  • Segun Wonderful, a founding member of the Ajogbajesu Band alongside the popular duo Jide and Tope Ajogbajesu, has revealed that the two are not biological twins, contrary to public belief.

In an interview with SMEDIA Podcast, Segun, who left the band years ago due to internal disagreements, cited financial mismanagement and poor administration as reasons for his departure. He further disclosed that a majority of the group’s songs were actually composed by Seyi Ajogbajesu.

Recalling his time with the band, Segun narrated the hardship he endured, including struggling to afford three square meals, before he eventually left to join Yinka Ayefele’s Merrymakers Band.

This interview gained relevance following a recent claim by Seyi Ajogbajesu, who stated that he is the true creator of most of the songs performed by the Ajogbajesu Twins, especially after the passing of Tope Ajogbajesu.

According to Seyi, the group originally planned to go by names like Ajogbajesu Band or Ajogbajesu Music Team, but their promoter suggested “Ajogbajesu Twins” for its uniqueness and market appeal. All members agreed to the name, despite the fact that Jide and Tope were not actual twins.

“I am a music writer and composer. I wrote and composed almost all their songs,” Seyi said. “But things fell apart when I began to notice mismanagement within the team. That led to our eventual split.”

He also noted that Jide Ajogbajesu is his cousin.
