This was contained in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Monday signed by Force PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi.
The statement read in part; “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a news making the rounds on social media alleging that some members of the Force will be embarking on a strike action with effect from March 26, 2022.”
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state unequivocally that the alleged publication is fake and a mischievous attempt by unscrupulous individuals to bring the Force to disrepute, misinform the general public and heat up the polity.”
The Police further reiterated that any strike action or deliberate disruption of law enforcement services by any security organisation is ‘mutinous’.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that a section of the media reported that the planned strike action was over the alleged non-implementation of Salary Increment.
However, the statement pointed out that the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, was working to ensure the full implementation of the increment of salaries and allowances proposed by the President and approved by the Federal Executive Council.
“The Salaries and Wages Commission has issued an implementation circular, the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs and the IGP have been working with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to ensure the stoppage of tax deductions as directed by the President and approved by the Federal Executive Council.”, the statement read.
On many occasions and in several ways, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has exemplified love for the people of Ondo state and concern for their wellbeing. No toe is too big for the governor to step on whenever he is fighting the cause of the people or that of truth.
Some days ago, Governor Akeredolu did the unusual. He went out to join the Ondo State Governor’s Task Force to enforce the regulated pump price of petrol at filling stations in Akure, the state capital.
There has been scarcity of the product in the country for more than a month now. The only official explanation available is that the nasty development stemmed from the importation of dirty fuel into the country. We were told the fuel could damage vehicles and, therefore, it could not be released into circulation. The little already in circulation was recalled.
Till now, nobody is facing the music as a result of the national embarrassment? This is unfortunate. The monster of impunity is one of the major factors that have taken Nigeria to where it is today. This is the truth we must all accept if we genuinely desire getting out of the woods. Get rid of the monster and see if the country will not move forward.
The fuel shortage induced serious hardship all over the country. There are long queues at filling stations. People spend hours in search of fuel.
Trust Nigerians! We always want to profit from the suffering of others. We are indifferent to the tears and sorrow of our fellow compatriots. We seek gains in the pains of even our supposedly loved ones. This is because most of us have lost our humanity. Yet, we profess one faith or another. Only God knows what’s wrong with our conscience.
The unpleasant fuel situation has been worsened by the greed and cruelty of marketers. They hoard the product and sell it above the government-approved price. The resultant is an astronomical increase in the cost of transportation.
But the State Governor’s Task Force has been trying its best to rein in the marketers and prevent the people of the state from going through unnecessary hardship. The Task Force is headed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale.
Last week, Odebowale’s team was at Sunbeth Petrol Station, Oke-Aro, Idanre Road, Akure. The station owner insisted on selling the product at N250 when the Task Force asked him to sell at the approved price of N165. Apart from that, he refused to sell into cars and motorcycles. He was selling the product into kegs only.
Governor Akeredolu later joined the Task Force at the filling station and ordered that the product be sold to motorcycle and car owners at the regulated pump price of N165.
The governor’s action is a rare leadership exemplar. It was hailed by the people around, especially the commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders. Their loud and joyful shouts of “Aketi, Aketi, Aketi” rent the air when Governor Akeredolu arrived at the petrol station. What public approval of a leader’s action is more than that?
Governor Akeredolu has sufficiently proven that he is not an ineffectual leader in a time of crisis. He is not like Emperor Nero who was playing music while Rome was burning. No leader who genuinely loves his people will fold his arms while they suffer.
When insecurity worsened in the Southwest, Amotekun was created to tackle the disturbing situation. And when herders and their cattle made farming difficult in Ondo state, open grazing was banned. Governor Akeredolu also took actions to prevent criminal herders from turning the state forest reserves into their sanctuaries.
The governor took a lot of blows because of these actions. Today, the people of the state are enjoying the fruit of the actions in terms of significant improvement in the security situation in the Sunshine state.
The creation of the Governor’s Task Force is a laudable decision that also sprang from Governor Akeredolu’s love for his people. Also commendable is the appointment of Odebowale as the head of the Task Force.
Odebowale is a wonderful round peg in the round hole of the Task Force. An intrepid and passionate champion of social re-engineering, the university don detests man’s inhumanity against others. He always finds it difficult to take his eyes away from the dirt in the armpits of society. It is such a man that can save us from ourselves by taming the beast of callousness in us.
Widely known and addressed as High Priest, Odebowale is a high priest of justice, fairness and decent society. You may misunderstand him; you may hate the good job he and his team are doing; you may not like his gut; you may even rain curses and abuses on him; all I know is that what he is doing for the state and her people is praying for him and members of his Task Force.

She said, “A lady whom I’ve never seen before, walked into my shop and she said she wanted to make her hair. But I told her I was going for our association’s meeting. She claimed she was going somewhere and just needed a little touch.
“I asked her to step aside to enable me clean up the shop, then she got a phone call, she picked it and started telling the person to stop disturbing her and hung up the call angrily.
“So, she told me she didn’t know the person that was calling her. And I told her if she didn’t know him, he won’t be calling her. And she told me she didn’t recognize him.”
She said the man called the lady again and she described her salon for him.
“As I was sweeping, I saw a black Camry car with tinted glass pulled up infront of my shop. Then, the man alighted and told lady, that, “This is me that you said you can’t recognize.”
“The lady denied knowing him. So, as the man was approaching my shop, I kept staring at him, and suddenly he tapped me and said, , “What about you, hairdresser, don’t you recognize me?”
“I felt like I was electrocuted and I told him that I’ve never seen him before and he said, ”why am I even talking to you too? You see that car over there, go and enter into it.
“That was all I could remember. By the time I regained consciousness, I heard someone telling me to wake up. I heard him talking to someone on the phone that he had been able to pick the ladies and were at the Plaza,” she added.
“The victim narrated further that someone called the man and instructed him to ensure they do not escape.
“The lady was the first person they pushed inside the bush, and she fell down and sat. The guy behind me also pushed me down. When I fell, I looked at his face, and saw that he was looking elsewhere. That was how I took to my heels. I didn’t look back.
“I was just running, the man that drove us mentioned the guy’s name which I have forgotten and told him that, ” if that lady escapes, you will be the one to be killed. When I heard that, I increased my speed.
“I was running till I got to the main road. I didn’t know how I got to plaza area. Then I saw a bike man at Plaza. I can’t remember the place, but I know it’s not far from where I escaped from. I can still remember the bush I ran from, but I can’t remember where the lady is, I’m confused. I got confused when I got to the road.
“I was running and crying. Then, the Amotekun men saw me and asked me what happened? And I told them to take me to where I can board a cab back to Ore where I was kidnapped.
“He asked me to enter and asked if I could follow him to Amotekun’s office, I said yes and he drove me to the Corps’ headquarters,” the Victim said.
Reacting to the development, Ondo State Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, admonished citizens of the state to be more vigilant and careful with those they make contact with.
Adeleye who is also the Chairman of the Council of Amotekun Commanders in the South-West region, said that the victim had been rescued, while efforts were ongoing to arrest the perpetrators.
No fewer than 12 people have lost their lives in an accident along the Ilorin/Ogbomosho road in Kwara State on Saturday.
It was gathered that the driver of an 18-seater white-colored Toyota Hiace passenger bus heading to Lagos had a head-on collision with a white DAF Volvo trailer.
An eyewitness said the driver of the bus was overspeeding while plying one-way.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State, Jonathan Owoade, confirmed the development to Daily Trust.
He attributed the cause of the accident to speeding limit and route violations and loss of control.
“Twelve of the passengers were burnt beyond recognition.
“We are still at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) trying to sort out the process of depositing them at the morgue.
“But those injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” Commander Owoade added.

A yet-to-be-identified dispatch rider has been beaten to a pulp in the Sangotedo area of Lagos for allegedly stealing a child
The stolen child was found and recovered in the suspect’s dispatch box.
It was gathered that the dispatch rider was picked at traffic when someone overheard the cry of a baby in the dispatch box.
The whistle-blower was said to have raised the alarm, which attracted passers-by who rescued the child and pummeled the suspect. They were about to lynch him before he was rescued by security agents.
However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the case had not been reported to any police station or formation in the state.
He, therefore, called on the parents of the said stolen baby and those who were still holding the suspect to report to the nearest police station.
He said: “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to a video going viral on social media alleging that a dispatch rider was caught with a stolen child in the dispatch box.
“The command wishes to inform the public that the incident said to have taken place in Sangotedo area, Lekki, was not reported at any police station to enable the police to take appropriate actions.
“Notwithstanding that the incident was not reported, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed that efforts should be intensified to locate the whereabouts of the alleged dispatch rider and the parents or guardians of the child to enable the police to investigate the incident.”
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has broken his silence over the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu, the president warned the leaders and members of APC to desist from “name-calling and backstabbing”.
He reiterated that the party’s national convention would hold on March 26.
The president urged APC members to “remain steadfast and maintain unity if the party is to continue in the path of victory and its dominance at all levels throughout the country”.
The statement also quoted Buhari as asking members of the party to “look at the once-powerful, main opposition Peoples Democratic Party now enfeebled and adrift and learn lessons in disunity, mismanagement, and corruption”.
He said, “They (PDP) failed in 16 years in power and a failure as opposition.
“Yes, we are entitled to our share of dissent and intra-party discord. These are common in all parties, left and right all over the world.
“But parties splintered by competing egos destine themselves to the worst possible fate.
“As the country prepares for the long run-up to the 2023 presidential election, we all expect a robust debate on the issues that matter, and what is going in the APC should be a reflection of this, not the infighting we are seeing. There must be no more distractions ahead of the convention to choose new leaders.”
He claimed that APC started with a confidence of victory and enjoyed confidence in nearly two-thirds of Nigeria’s 36 states.
“This is a party that has been in existence barely for eight years, becoming the dominant party because it has thrown open its doors to defectors from other parties, big and small.
“This alone, in addition to the fact that we didn’t start on the note of arrogance of power, nor see government as a vehicle for self-aggrandizement, to be held at all costs, but a vehicle to bring development to all without discrimination-political, ethnic or regional to our dear country made this success possible.
“Given all that is at a stake, we can expect contests into offices as we are now faced with to be heated although candidates and their promoters for party offices are not so much debating policy differences of management, personality, character, and suitability for the most important leadership roles in our country and therefore the continent.”
The president, however, blamed the role of the media in the crisis rocking the party.
He said, “It is equally clear that over the last week or so, the internal management affairs of the APC have been afforded generous media coverage – over and above its importance to the voters of Nigeria.
“It is important to ask what benefits the poor are getting during the period of intense negative coverage.
“When precisely the party’s convention is held and who is the party’s chairman is hardly a matter for the average voter: vastly more important is who convention delegates will elect as the party’s flagbearer in the coming weeks to take forward the party’s platform to the people in the general election in February next year.
“It is therefore important for the media to put such matters into perspective. No one is debating policy differences here. That is for the general election. None of the declared aspirants and any of those that may step forward will change because of who may be in the party in the chairman’s seat. It is essentially the same party.
“Of course, the media are welcome to comment on the content of the character of the potential APC candidates; discuss their suitability for leadership; scrutinize their offer to the membership. But to focus on the routine internal divisions and magnify them into what they have become today is a waste of everyone’s time, amounting to no more than a discussion over seating arrangements.
“This is not what Nigerians talk of in their communities. They incline only for things that matter.”
Nigerians has described Friday rulling and permission granted by the Federal High Court, Abuja to Chairman Global Fleets and Companies, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim to commence committal proceedings against three principal officers of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for flouting the Court orders over the seizure of his assets and bank account as laudable.
Justice Okon Abang in a rulling on Friday said in view of the allegation by Ibrahim and his companies that AMCON and other defendants in a suit pending before the court, flouted order earlier made, the applicants were entitled to leave to commence committal proceedings against their alleged contemnors .
The alleged principal officers are the Managing Director/ CEO , Ahmed Lawal Kure and two executive Director, Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail .
It would be recalled that Jimoh Ibrahim had earlier filed an appeal against AMCON for seizing his assets and his bank account over alleged #69.4bN debt.
In a statement issued in Akure yesterday by the Newspaper Analyst Group, The coordinator, Mr. Olusegun Abayomi described the judgement as remakable and a landmark.
The group added that the judgement was a vindication of good over evil and the asset and bank account seizures were just trumped charges.
It stressed that it has always belief that Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim would triumph and be vindicated at the end of the day.
The judgement which reads in parts
“The court having also considered that it is alleged that the defendants violated the court’s order and the alleged violations are as mentioned in the body of the ruling delivered in the open court today the 11th of March, 2
“The court having considered that, in exercise of its disciplinary jurisdiction under its inherent powers as preserved under Section 6(6)A&B of 1999 Constitution (as amended), it is deserving to grant leave to enable the Plaintiffs commence committal proceedings against the principal officers of AMCON that take decisions for AMCON, as the court cannot grant an order in vain and a subsisting order of court is uncompromising binding on parties and must be obeyed unless set aside.
“And the having delivered its ruling in the open court and its reasoning and conclusions are as contained in the body of the ruling.
“It is hereby ordered as follows:
That leave is hereby granted to the plaintiffs to commence committal proceedings by issuance of Forms 48 and 49 and same served on Ahmed Lawal Kure (Managing Director/CEO, AMCON), Eberechukwu Uneze (Executive Director AMCON) and Aminu Ismail (Executive Director AMCON) being natural persons, prime movers, alter ego, directing minds, principal officers of AMCON that allegedly flouted the subsisting order of court made on 16/8/2021 re-stated on 9/3/2022 predicated on the subsisting undertakings made by the defendants’ counsel given freely on 16/8/2021 that the defendants will not take steps to favour of the plaintiffs herein or undermine the subject matter of the suit pending hearing and determination of the plaintiffs’ suit.
That the plaintiffs shall endorse Form 48 on the enrolled order of this court dated 9/3/2022 and same served on persons mentioned in item 1 of the instant enrolled order.
That the plaintiffs shall as of right issue Forms 48 and 49 and same endorsed on the enrolled order of this court dated 9/3/2022 and served on the 3rd to 12th defendants.”
The group further thanked the Nigerian Judiciary for always standing by the truth in the discharge of it core responsibilities.
The Ilaje Global Think Tanks has called for a mass support to vote for Princess Wumi Fayemi as member of Ondo State House of Assembly to represent the Ilaje constituency 2.
Princess Fayemi is an illustrious daughter of the Mahin, Aheri and Etikan people.
According to the group, women respond to the positive and upbeat energy a confident man is putting out in the world, so long as that confidence doesn’t overextend into egotism. When a man doesn’t feel the need to compete with or belittle others to lift himself up, it will go a long way in winning a woman’s attention and Vice versa.
Fayemi is described as a trustworthy woman of high integrity and confidence. A woman of class with the best sense of humor. Her confidence to represent her people taste like sweet Italian wine in the mouth of her constituents that makes other aspirants shakable, fearful and anxious.
“Her spirit of lobbying for good legislative law reforms and newness is therefore overwhelming and outstanding.” The group said.
“Let’s make history together. Let’s give development a change. Let’s vote rightly for the development of our land. Let’s vote a celibral mind without adding nepotism to the mixture.” They added.
There was uproar in Badore, in Iju Odo, Okitipupa on Wednesday, as a big bird reportedly fell from the sky.
The people of the community, who were apprehensive described the occurrence as strange, because the big bird with mixed white and black colours had a cipher ring inscripted with a foreign language on one of its legs.
While some residents of the community believed it was a spiritual bird named Awodi or Udi in Yoruba land, and could be a witchcraft bird, others opined that the bird, with cipher ring most likely migrated from its country and could be lost after futile efforts to decipher the texts.
According to a resident, Mr. Ojuola Emi, who believed the bird was an ordinary one, said most Chinese like to put signs, names on their pets and the said bird could have fled from its country or owner to Iju Odo.
But another resident, Mrs. Taiwo Orimisan, who had a contrary view, said it was a spiritual bird whose activity was cut short, hence it mysteriously fell from the sky.
Speaking with the Oniju of Iju Odo, kingdom, His royal majesty, Oba Festus Oyedele Olumoyegun, he said he was not around when the bird fell, but that he was informed on phone about the occurrence.
Contrary to insinuations by some people of the community that the bird was spiritual, the Oba said he believed that the bird was an ordinary one and there was nothing mystical about it, nor the reason why it fell.
The monarch said,” I was not around, but one of my chiefs called me on phone to inform me that a bird fell with a ring on its right leg.
He said they have invited a spiritualist for consultation, saying, “the text on the ring was said to be written in German language. So, for me, it is never spiritual.”
