  • Insecurity: Akeredolu briefs Buhari in aso rock

Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Wednesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor seized the opportunity of the meeting to brief the President as regards the precarious security situation in the region, especially Ondo state.

“The Governor met with the President at a meeting; and it centered on the issue of security concerns in the Southwest, especially in Ondo state.

“It was a huge opportunity for the governor to put the records straight as regards the erroneous impression that Governor Akeredolu had asked all Fulani and herdsmen to vacate the state.

“The meeting afforded both leaders a great window to explore ingenious methods to tackle the issue of insecurity in the region.

“In particular, Governor Akeredolu sought and indeed, obtained the president’s support and encouragement to flush out criminals in the forests of Ondo State.

“It was a needful meeting and more of such are very likely in the days ahead as the unanimity of purpose against crime gets the desired attention”.

Governor Akeredolu alongside his brother Governors from the Southwest region and their colleagues from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) met with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah in Akure on Monday.

The meeting was at the instance of the Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.

At the Monday meeting, both the Leadership of Miyetti Allah and the Governors threw their support behind the directive of Governor Akeredolu that all herders occupying the forest reserves illegally should vacate it within seven days or properly get registered.

Aside, the meeting also affirmed the ban on night and underaged grazing and also outlawed the presence of cows in cities and highways.

  • Buhari reacts to Akeredolu’s order to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves

    STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

IN TACKLING CRIME, ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT ACT OUTSIDE THE CONSTITUTION

The Presidency has been keenly monitoring events occurring in Ondo State and the “orders” by the government of the state, “asking herders to vacate the forests in seven days.”

What is clearly emerging, is a lack of consistency in messaging which in turn leads to various contradictions regarding accuracy and the intent behind the message. There is little to be said other than to call for restraint on both sides and urge the state government and the leadership of the Fulani communities to continue their dialogue for a good understanding that will bring to an urgent end, the nightmarish security challenges facing the state.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a seasoned lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and indeed, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has fought crime in his state with passion and commitment, greater sensitivity and compassion for the four years he has run its affairs and, in our view, will be the least expected to unilaterally oust thousands of herders who have lived all their lives in the state on account of the infiltration of the forests by criminals.

If this were to be the case, rights groups will be right in expressing worries that the action could set off a chain of events which the makers of our constitution foresaw and tried to guard against.

We want to make it clear that kidnapping, banditry and rustling are crimes, no matter the motive or who is involved. But, to define crime from the nameplates, as a number of commentators have erroneously done- which group they belong to, the language they speak, their geographical location or their faith is atavistic and cruel.

We need to delink terrorism and crimes from ethnicity, geographical origins and religion—to isolate the criminals who use this interchange of arguments to hinder law enforcement efforts as the only way to deal effectively with them.

The President, who swore to defend the constitution has spoken against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in asking citizens of Northern origin to leave; he did not spare the group based in Sokoto, ‘Muslim Solidarity Forum,’ which asked the Bishop of Sokoto to leave and is prepared to do all that the law permits to protect citizens all over the country in their choice of where they wished to reside and are treated as equal citizens.

The government of Ondo, and all the 35 others across the federation must draw clear lines between the criminals and the law abiding citizens who must equally be saved from the infiltrators. Beyond law and order, the fight against crime is also a fight for human values which are fundamental to our country.

  • Success  Story Of Jimoh Ibrahim

The triumph of a man or woman lies in his or her ability to take advantage of the situations they find themselves in, for their own good. They turn obstacles into helpers, problems into opportunities, and people into organizations. They know opportunities are priceless and put in the work to ensure they’re always on the winning side, on time, every time.

This is the success story of Jimoh Ibrahim, a Nigerian business magnate who made is first 70 million Naira (about $300,000) when he was just a youth corps member—a year after he graduated from the University-—and eventually went

    Here’s how he did it:

The EARLY LIFE And EDUCATION OF JIMOH IBRAHIM

Jimoh Ibrahim was born on the 24th of February, 1967 to Alhaji Yakubu and Omofemiwa Jimoh in Okitipupa, Ondo State. His father who was a bricklayer, was polygamous, and had about 7 wives and 40 children. While his mother sold fish.

Jimoh Ibrahim had his school education at the Saint John’s school, Igbotako, after which he went on to study law at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. He obtained a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) here, and further went on to obtain a Master of Public Administration (MPA) also from the Obafemi Awolowo University.

SUCCESS AS A YOUTH CORPS MEMBER

Before Jimoh Ibrahim was done with his university education, he had first forayed into entrepreneurship by handling petite building construction contracts, which he executed with his father’s building materials.
Upon graduation from the University to commence the compulsory one-year youth corps service program in Nigeria, Jimoh Ibrahim noticed that local governments didn’t have their own laws, but only the states and the federal government had. This observation propelled him to organize a seminar for all the local governments in Nigeria. The seminar was successful and went on to fetch him about N3.6 million Naira (a lot of money at the time).

This success was a wake-up call for Jimoh Ibrahim, which then motivated him to organize several like conferences. Part of them was organizing about 14 different workshops for all the tiers of government in Nigeria, and by the time his compulsory one-year youth service was done, Jimoh Ibrahim had made about N70 million Naira from his business.

His service year’s success was so resounding that at the time, he built about 6 houses (4 in Lagos) during the compulsory one year—one of which was a four-stories tall building in Ikotun-Egbe—with proceeds from the income he had generated.

HIS NEXT SUCCESS AND THE START OF THE GLOBAL FLEET GROUP

While organizing seminars, Jimoh Ibrahim discovered how large oil companies were withholding massive amounts of taxes from the federal government, causing the country to lose a lot of potential revenue. He gathered his findings and submitted a proposal to the federal government detailing his report and showing how he could help them recover a large part of the funds with a commission earned on every recovery.

Upon approval of his proposal, Jimoh Ibrahim helped the federal government to recover billions of Naira (millions of dollars), making him far wealthier in the process.

With the commissions paid to him by the federal government for work done, Jimoh Ibrahim went on to purchase a swampy area of land at the Victoria Garden City (VGC) gate—a highbrow area in Lagos for the super rich—and built a state-of-the-art petrol station and two banking halls in it.

He also set up another petrol station at the Illupeju area of Lagos at the time, and invested a very large part of the funds into real estate.

    HIS BUSINESS TODAY

Today, Jimoh Ibrahim’s businesses through the Global Fleet Group span through oil & gas, hospitality, real estate, banking & finance, insurance, publishing, and several other industries.

Some of the subsidiaries the Global Fleet Group has that are spread across several countries include:

Air Nigeria – Lagos, Nigeria – Formerly Virgin Nigeria

    HIS ACHIEVEMENTS

Asides getting a Bachelor of Law degree and a Master of Public Administration (MPA), Jimoh Ibrahim has a combined Masters of Law (LLM) and a Master in International Taxation from the prestigious Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusets, USA.

Jimoh Ibrahim was also a gubernatorial aspirant in Ondo state, both in the year 2003 under the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP) and in the year 2016 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

    To Sum It Up
Jimoh Ibrahim is an example of an exceptional entrepreneur who doesn’t just identify opportunities, but also creates them for himself. He takes the bold step to bring his dreams to fruition, and in the process, ensures that he persists until he succeeds.

My dear good people of Ondo State, Jimoh Ibrahim is our own.

We should rise up against his PERSECUTION by  his competitors through the Judiciary.

In Nigeria today, it is difficult to successfully do business without credit facility.

Rather than confiscates assets of investors, Government should create an enabling environment for investors to survive.

Debt is a common phenomenon in business.
