  • Reallocate OSOPADEC to Igbokoda, Ilaje Youths Urge ODSG

    by

The youths of Ilaje Local Government Area have called on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to relocate the headquarters of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) from Akure to Igbokoda. The appeal aims to bring the commission closer to the oil-producing communities it serves, ensuring better accessibility and impact.

This request was made by Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, the convener of the National Union of Ilaje Youths (NAUIYO), during the union’s inaugural meeting in Igbokoda, the Ilaje LGA headquarters.

Prince Owolemi reminded attendees of the unfulfilled 2016 promise made by the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to relocate OSOPADEC to Igbokoda during his visit to the Olugbo of Ugbo. He urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to honor this commitment and initiate the process.

“As the united representative of the youths, I call on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to fulfill this promise and ensure that OSOPADEC is relocated to Ilaje,” he stated.

In addition, Prince Owolemi emphasized the need for government programs to focus on skill acquisition for Ilaje youths. He suggested that these initiatives should include training in ICT, engineering, and technical skills, both locally and internationally, to enhance youth empowerment.

He also stressed the importance of unity among Ilaje youths as a means to attract development projects to the region. “We must abstain from vices and create a peaceful environment for contractors and residents. Without unity, even with an Ilaje man as the governor, we cannot fully enjoy progress or benefits,” he remarked.

Prince Owolemi introduced the National Union of Ilaje Youths as a membership-based organization open to individuals aged 18 and above. The union, he said, is committed to advocating for its members’ rights legally, morally, and financially.

The registration process for the union involves enrolling through community youth chairpersons to ensure grassroots participation and accountability. This system, Owolemi explained, would strengthen community security, alleviate government pressure, and reward local youth groups’ contributions.

He concluded by encouraging Ilaje youths to work collaboratively to foster development, unity, and empowerment in the region.

  • The Unsong Heroes of humanity:

Hon. John Ogunmoyero as a beacon of hope

In a world where genuine acts of philanthropy often go unnoticed, it is disheartening that society frequently overlooks those ordained by God to serve humanity selflessly. Instead, we sometimes find ourselves drawn into individuals whose charitable deeds are driven by personal ambitions rather than a true passion for humanity. Unfortunately, such leaders, lacking empathy and a genuine humanitarian spirit, often fail to deliver on their promises, leaving us disillusioned.

True philanthropists, however, are rare gems. They possess a divine calling to care for others, impacting lives positively even with limited resources. Yet, they are often celebrated and sidelined when it comes to leadership opportunities. One such individual who exemplifies this rare breed of selfless service is Hon. John Ogunmoyero.

Without holding any government position, Hon. Ogunmoyero has touched countless lives, particularly in his constituency, Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State. Through his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people, he has provided employment opportunities and supported numerous families. His actions speak louder than words, reflecting a deep-seated passion for uplifting others and fostering community development.

Imagine the transformative impact someone like Hon. Ogunmoyero could have if given the platform to serve in government or represent his people in a legislative chamber. His dedication, empathy, and proven track record of service are precisely the qualities needed in leadership today.

As we look toward the future, it is imperative that we recognize and support individuals like Hon. Ogunmoyero, those who have demonstrated a genuine commitment to humanity. Let us collectively appreciate and elevate such leaders who, with or without a title, continue to make significant contributions in the society.

In 2027, there should be no going back. It is time to give the mantle of leadership to those whose actions have consistently proven their devotion to the people. May God continue to strengthen Hon. Ogunmoyero and others like him in their noble pursuit of making the world a better place.

  • Ayetoro marks 78th Anniversary

    by

As Ayetoro proudly celebrates its 78th anniversary, we honor the visionary founders, the Apostles, who established this theocratic communist Christian settlement on January 12th, 1947. Born out of a shared dream to create a community grounded in faith, equality, and collective progress, Ayetoro has evolved into a beacon of hope, resilience, and industry.

Within a decade of its inception, Ayetoro remarkably emerged as one of the most industrious communities in Nigeria, showcasing the power of collective effort, innovative spirit, and unwavering commitment to a common purpose. Today, as we commemorate this milestone anniversary, we celebrate the community’s enduring values:

    • Faith: Our unwavering trust in the Divine guidance that has shaped our journey.
    • Equality: Our commitment to the principles of communism, ensuring equal opportunities and distribution of resources.
    • Collective Progress: Our collaborative spirit, driving innovation, industry, and growth.

The ceremonial procession through the town is a joyous highlight of this special day, symbolizing our continued growth, strength, and resilience. As we reflect on our rich heritage, we honor the selfless sacrifices, perseverance, and leadership of our pioneers.

However, as we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we are also reminded of the pressing challenges facing our community. The ocean surge has ravaged almost 90% of our community, threatening our very existence. We urgently call on the government to come to our aid, providing the necessary support and resources to protect our homes, our livelihoods, and our way of life.

We are heartened to learn that the Ondo State Government has expressed its readiness to find lasting solutions to the sea incursion at Ayetoro ¹. We urge the government to expedite these efforts, working closely with our community to develop and implement effective measures to mitigate the impacts of the ocean surge.

To all sons and daughters of the Apostles worldwide, I extend warmest congratulations on this milestone anniversary. May this occasion inspire us to rediscover our roots, reaffirm our values, and recommit ourselves to the noble ideals that have guided our community thus far.

As we celebrate Ayetoro’s 78th anniversary, let us also look forward to a brighter future, filled with hope, promise, and endless possibilities. May our community continue to flourish, united in our diversity, and steadfast in our pursuit of peace, love, and unity.

    Signed:
    Comr Akingboye Thompson,
