  • Adekanmbi lauds appointment of Ajulo, Omole, Johnson, Others by Gov. Aiyedatiwa

    A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Honourable Femi Adekanmbi has lauded the governor of the state, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for nominating a legal giant, Kayode Ajulo, SAN, Hon. Olugbenga Omole, Mr Alabi Johnson as member of the state executive council.

    The former Commissioner also applauded the appointment of other illustrious sons and daughters of the state as Commissioners and Special Advisers to the state government.

    The State Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa had on friday nominated six commissioners and five special Advisers

    In a communique message, Adekanmbi said “Barrister Kayode, OON, SAN is a well-known lawyer and human rights activist who has played a prominent role in Nigerian politics. He has been a vocal advocate for a number of causes, including electoral reform and the rights of prisoners.

    “It’s worth noting that Kayode Ajulo has a unique perspective on the political landscape in Nigeria. As a lawyer and human rights activist, he has brought a different set of skills and experience to our body polity.

    “He has also been outspoken about the importance of political inclusivity, particularly for marginalized groups, and has called for greater representation of women, youth, and other underrepresented groups in political decision-making processes.

    “Hon. Gbenga Omole, a former lawmaker, is well known to me as a hardworking and industrious person who represented the best interests of his constituents”

    “Engr. Johnson Alabi’s work ethics is nothing short of remarkable. His dedication to achieving excellence in every project and task is truly inspiring”

    While praying that God should give Ajulo and other Commissioner designate and Special Advisers, the grace to succeed on his job, Adekanmbi further called on them to serve the state with sincerity of purpose.

  • Aiyedatiwa nominates six commissioners, appoints three special advisers

    Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation the names of six Commissioner-nominees.

    The nominees are:

    1. Mrs. Omowumi Isaac, ACCA
    2. Mr. Olukayode A. Ajulo, SAN, OON
    3. Engr. Razaq Obe
    4. Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan
    5. Barrister Akinwumi Sowore
    6. Mr. Oseni Oyeniyi

    The Governor has also appointed the following individuals as Special Advisers:

    1. Hon. Olugbenga Omole, Special Adviser on Information & Strategy
    2. Mrs. Olamide Falana, Special Adviser on Gender Affairs
    3. Mr. Alabi Johnson, Special Adviser on Energy.

  • Fans demand sack of Sunshine Stars GM, Tunde Ogunja

    Dissatisfied with the current performance of Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, aggrieved fans of the club, on Monday, besieged Office of the Ondo State Governor to demand for the sack of the Team’s General Manager, Prince Tunde Ogunja.


    The protesters were seen displaying placards with various inscriptions, “Ogunja must go SOS”, “Ogunja is a pest to football development in Ondo State, “Ogunja is a drunkard,” Ogunja pays premium on money more than the work he is assigned to do, he get paid but not care about his job”.

    The leader of the protesters, Lucky Beniah disclosed that Sunshine Stars FC are currently 13th on the 2023/24 NPFL table due to the negligence of the General Manager.

    He alleged that the General Manager is not traveling with the team for away matches, after collecting full travelling allowances, even during home matches, he seldomly appear.

    The allegations against him include; “imposition of players on coaching crew and his non challant attitude towards the team”.

    One of the protesters, Taju Eniolorunda said: “The General Manager has caused more division in the team than unity.

    “To salvage the team from the current situation, the best thing is for the General Manager to leave.”

    “Position of General Manager is a sensitive one and not for an incompetent individual like him, we want Sunshine Stars to return to its old glory days”,he said.

    Barr. Aderemi Adetula, the Bamofin of Upenmen Kingdom in Ọwọ Local Government has joined millions of well-wishers to congratulate the Deputy Governor designate,Dr Olayide Adelami, on his appointment by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

    It would be recalled that Governor Aiyedatiwa had announced the appointment of Adelami on Wednesday and followed with confirmation by the State Assembly on Thursday.

    Adetula said he is confident of the quality Adelami has to help the governor achieve greatness and move the state forward.

    “The quality and wealth of experience the new deputy governor designate will bring into the government of Governor Aiyedatiwa is unquantifiable,having reached the pinnacle of his career as a former deputy chief clerk of the National Assembly,” he said.

    He used the opportunity to pray for the success of the new administration and urged all and sundry to support the current government to bring about dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

  • Former Commissioner, Adekanmbi delighted over appointment of Adelami as Deputy Governor

    A former Commissioner for Special Duties, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Femi Adekanmbi, has expressed delight over the appointment of Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

    In a statement by the former Commissioner on Wednesday, he eulogised the governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for giving the Owo born bureaucrat, the opportunity to serve the state.

    He said “Adelami would use his wealth of experience to achieve “monumental development for the state in line with the redeemed agenda of the state government and the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.

    The Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has appointed Secretary to the State Government.

    The governor in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan has approved the appointment of Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi (Tukana) as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

    The Governor also approved the appointment of Mr. Abayomi Olasanya as the Chief of Protocol.

    Recall that the Governor had earlier today dissolved the State Executive Council.

    The Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi (Tukana) as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

    The Governor also approved the appointment of Mr. Abayomi Olasanya as the Chief of Protocol.

    Both appointments take immediate effect.

  • Aiyedatiwa dissolves Ondo State Executive Council

    The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

    All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

    Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.

    All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.

    The Governor thanks the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.

  • Aiyetoro: Ondo Moves To Find Lasting Solution To Ocean Surge

    Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday presided over the State Executive Council meeting, during which critical issues of development were discussed and a wide range of actions approved for implementation.

    Top among those is the approval of an action plan on finding lasting and sustainable solution to the incessant ocean surge in Aiyetoro community in Ilaje local government area of the State.

    This was revealed at a press briefing after the EXCO meeting by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.

    While addressing Government House correspondents, Olateju disclosed that the Governor expressed deep concern over the challenges faced by the community over several years, santioning government’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to the sea-related problems.

    The government, she assured, is actively working towards implementing measures that will not only mitigate the immediate impacts but also provide a permanent and sustainable solution in order to safeguard the affected coastal areas.

    Also, the Executive Council approved the immediate assumption of office by the newly appointed Oloje of Igasi in Akoko North West local government and the Ibini/Lebú of Ojuala in Ese-odo local government. Additionally, two warrant chiefs were appointed to facilitate the selection of a new Olusupare of Supare Akoko, and a new Arogbo of Akotogbo was also approved.

    The State government has also taken a significant step towards fostering economic development by approving the State Action Plan on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) programs. This includes an initiative to illuminate Akure and major cities in the state through a solar-powered project. The pilot project, having received Council’s approval, is set to commence immediately with sample installations underway at the front of Government House, Alagbaka, Akure.

    On the issue of cleanness in the state, the Commissioner for Environment, Sunday Akinwalire, highlighted progress in clearing refuse in the metropolis and the weeding of curbs, as well as plans to improve overall sanitation standards.

    Also, the State Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye, said the government, acknowledging pending court cases initiated by opposition parties regarding the appointment of careraker committees for Local Government councils and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), is committed to resolving these issues amicably through constructive dialogue with the relevant stakeholders.

    In a somber note, the Council was briefed on the plans for the burial of the late former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

  • President, Yoruba Obas Forum, Oba Samuel Adeoye Celebrates (Umale)Masquerade Festival in Atijere

    As part of the yearly festival in Atijere community, the community’s monarch, the Molokun of Atijere kingdom, HRM Oba Samuel Olumide Adeoye, Edema 1, has celebrated Umale (Masquerade) Festival in grandstyle.

    Umale festival is the part of monarch’s effort to promote Yoruba and Atijere tradition and culture.

    The Masquerade Festival featured various cultural and masquerade displays held at the Oba place in Atijere, Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State.

    The Traditional Ruler, Molokun of Atijere kingdom who is also the President, 130 Crown Obas Forum in Ondo State and President, Yoruba Obas Forum, was fully on ground celebrating the festival with his people.

    Others who joined the monarch to celebrate the festival were Oba Osobia of Makun-Omin and his chiefs from a neighbouring community in Ogun State

    Hundreds of Atijere indigenes and non indigenes cut across age brackets, living within the community and beyond thronged the venue to be entertained by the masquerades.

    Following the full participation of the pupils and youths, the monarch, Oba Samuel Adeoye offered scholarship award to 17 students while celebrating the masquerade festival.

    The monarch stated that the scholarship award was an effort to encourage the community’s youths at a tender age to develop interest in the traditional and cultural matters as Yoruba ethics, stressed that the 17 students were based on their active roles and full participation in the festival, noting that the 17 selected students are from both primary and secondary schools in Atijere.
