  • Gunmen attack Apostle suleman’s convoy, kill seven

    Gunmen on Friday attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman along the Benin Auchi Road, Edo State, and allegedly killed seven persons including three policemen.

    It was  gathered that Suleman returned from a foreign trip and was heading to a destination in Edo State when the gunmen attacked his convoy around the Auchi area of the state.

    During the attack, the gunmen reportedly opened fire on his convoy, allegedly killing three of his police orderlies and four other yet-to-be-identified persons.

    Suleman’s lawyer, Samuel Amune, who confirmed the attack to our correspondent, said the cleric just returned from a programme in Tanzania, adding that he escaped death by a whisker.

    He said, “He was returning from a journey and he had almost gotten on the shores of Auchi when some assassins attacked him. Three of his police orderlies, among others died. He travelled before and just finished a programme in Tanzania day before yesterday.

    “He was returning to Auchi when the gunmen attacked him along Sabingida down to Warake area, and Auchi shares direct boundary with Warake. So, he had passed Warake and was entering the boundaries of Auchi when the attack happened.”

    Ondo State Governor,Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will surmount it challenges and continue to get better.

    Governor Akeredolu assured of his determination to continue to prosecute his conviction with courage and seek the greater good of the nation.

    The Governor spoke on Tuesday in Abuja at a reception organised for him and other National Honours Award recipients from Ondo State by the Minister of State for Transport, Prince Ademola Adegoroye

    According to him, the National Honours has reinforced his conviction that the country would continue to get better.

    While commending the Minister for his efforts in achieving a better Nigeria, Governor Akeredolu, CON, expressed appreciation to God for making the day a reality and also thanked the Minister for the honor done him and other awards recipients.

    “For all of us, it is only God who made it possible. It is a thing of joy and worth celebrating.

    “Prince Adegoroye has done so well. He has done us proud. He has done our dear state proud and we all appreciate him. It is a good reception.

    “I want to thank all EXCO members who are here in their large numbers. This is One Administration. You have come to show that we run One Administration and I thank you all.” The Governor said.

    In his remarked, Prince Adegoroye said Governor Akeredolu has done the state proud.

    He congratulated all the National Award recipients from the sunshine state, while urging them to keep the flag flying.

  • 2023: APC authorizes Tinubu’s manifesto, to consult Buhari on campaign commencement date

    The All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, reviewed and approved the draft manifesto of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

    Spokesperson of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo, disclosed this to journalists after a meeting of the council, the Progressive Governors’ Forum and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party in Abuja.

    He said the draft manifesto was presented by Mr Tinubu to the organs of the party and that it got 90 per cent pass from most of the people that attended the closed-door meeting.

    Mr Keyamo also said a committee has been set up to reduce the document to a simple presentation that everyone, irrespective of educational background, could relate with.

    He did not, however, disclose the date for the release of the manifesto. He said Mr Tinubu would be the one to release the manifesto.

    “What we did today was to review the draft of our manifesto. Our candidate is not a candidate that operates on his own. He tries to carry everybody along. He presented a draft of the manifesto to all the stakeholders of the party. We looked at it. Almost all the stakeholders gave the draft a 90 per cent pass mark.

    “We are not going to take away the thunder from our candidate. He is going to present the manifesto on a particular day, at a particular occasion.

    “After that, a small committee has been set up to reduce the document to highlights— major highlights. We want to deliver and sell the manifesto to even market women, to the street traders in the most simple language. We don’t want to present a very complicated document they cannot understand,” he said.

  • Eld-el-Maulud: Jimoh Ibrahim congratulates Muslims

    Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, billionaire business mogul and APC 2023 candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District has felicitated with Muslims on the birth of Prophet Mohammed (Eld-el-Maulud) celebration.

    Ibrahim in a message made available to newsmen on Monday in Okitipupa, urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for the district, the state and the country in general for peaceful coexistence and development of the nation.

    The APC chieftain charged all political gladiators in the country, irrespective of their party affiliations, to ensure they comport themselves in a manner that would not undermine the peace of the nation.

    He noted that if the country was not in peace, it would undermine the development of the nation as investors would only invest in a peaceful environment where their investments would be safe.

    “I am using this opportunity also to appeal to all politicians across all party lines to play the game according to the rules.

    “This nation belongs to all of us and it is our duty to make it peaceful, it is important we live together in peace so that our country can continue to develop.

    “I want to congratulate all Muslims in Ondo South, our state and Nigeria at large today as we celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed,” Ibrahim said.

    He, however, enjoined all Muslims, particularly youths, to celebrate peacefully.

  • FG declares Monday public holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Monday public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlud celebration in commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

    Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who made this declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Muslims both at home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion.

    Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore, on Thursday, admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which Prophet Muhammad exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security and harmony in the country.

    The statement read in part: “Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoins Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other acts of criminality.

    “As the indisputable leader of our race, we must demonstrate responsible leadership in Africa.”

    He urged Nigerians to be security conscious, asking them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency and through the N-Alert application on Android and IOS, saying “when you see something do N-Alert, as this would elicit prompt response from security agents.”

    Ahead of the 2023 Election, The All Progressives Congress, Akure South Ward 4 yesterday 6th October,2022 held meeting with all the old and new members of the wards on how to achieve success for all the candidates of the party at all levels in the upcoming elections.

    The meeting which took place at St. Stephen’s Anglican Primary School, Ijomu Akure had in attendance all the Ward leaders and stakeholders across board to rub minds on the progress of the party.

    In his address, Chairman Akure South Elders Forum, Elder. S. B Akerele commended all the party’s members for their commitment over the years.

    He however charged them to continue doing their best in the overall interest of the party.

    In his own speech, Chairman Ondo State Parks Management Committee, Comrade. Adebo Jacob appreciated all the party faithfuls for their time and efforts in making the meeting a reality.

    Adebo Jacob fondly called Idajo by his admirers took time to enumerate the achievements of the party Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State.

    He appealed to all members to mobilize for his success and other candidates of the party at all levels during the election.

    The event presented the newly elected unit coordinators an opportunity to express their commitment and appreciation to all and sundry for the mandate to serve the people.

    With the above quote, since anyone can aspire under any political platform, hence the need to study each candidates with the Aspirations to represent Ilaje Constituency 2 at the House of Assembly to be a person that understand the key to facilitate developmental projects and program to our Constituency and that key is INFLUENCE.

    It may interest you to know that, Ilaje Constituency 2 has 174 Polling Units with Voting strength (PVC Collect as at 2020) of 71,356 votes. Hence the need for us in Constituency 2 to carefully assess the candidates and their plans, to elect who will represent us come 2023 at the Ondo State House of Assembly.

    After wide consultations from party leaders across party lane and electorates in the Six (6) political wards (Aheri, Etikan, Mahin I, Mahin II, Mahin III and Mahin IV) of our Constituency also puting into consideration who amongst the Candidates of the major political parties APC, PDP and ADC has the Capacity to Influence developmental projects and Programs that will affect the lives of the Youth, Women and all constituent member of the our beloved constituency positively.

    The candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC for Member Ondo State House of Assembly, Ilaje constituency 2, Princess Olawumi Fayemi in her spirit of consultation and soliciting for support joins Mahin ward 3 meeting for more strategic planning ahead of the 2023 general election.

    The meeting was called by the leaders of Mahin ward 3 to discuss and agree upon  workable plans of the ward to support and work for the party interest at all levels ahead of the 2023 general elections.

    Princess Olawumi Fayemi, the candidate of the APC, upon her attendance was welcomed and appreciated by both leaders and members of Mahin ward 3 for always making herself available as and when due and necessary.
