  • HON. (PRINCE) ADEMOLA ADEGOROYE GOOFED BY TRYING TO DIVIDE AKURE KINGDOM……….Dr. Akeredolu O.N

He is first to be a minister of the federation from Akure South L.G.A but not the first Akure man( from Akure Kingdom)

    INTRODUCTION

Hon. Ademola Adegoroye is a prince from the respected royal family of Adesida ruling house. Adesida dynasty had ruled Akure kingdom for more than a century in which the subsequent kings( Adesidas) contributed to the development of the state capital vis-a-vis Ondo state at large in immesurable dimensions. This great kingdom called Akure has many illustrious sons and daughters which Prince Ademola Adesida is included. The entire scenario is so funny, even to me, because I’m not an Akure man but spent more than twenty five years in these great accommodative communities of Akure kingdom.

Ordinarily, the revered prince should be the one correcting a stranger like me but the reverse is the case now. Akure kingdom is one of the ancient kingdoms that have their roots with Oduduwa as an ancestor in which they all migrated from Ile-Ife as their source. They are currently being called Yorubas, the name believe to have been given to Oduduwa descendants by slave traders and portuguese merchants who came through Lagos State, Benin republic and Siera-leone to colonise other Yoruba parts and entire Africans except Ethopians.

Akure was a division of the Western Nigeria like others e.g Owo division, Ekiti division, Akoko division, Egba division, Oyo division, Ondo division e.t.c. Akure later became the state capital of old Ondo state ( Ondo and Ekiti states) when it was created in 1976 by late. Gen. Muritala Muhammed, using Ondo town’s name for the new state and its capital cited in Akure because Ondo town and Akure contested for the state capital. These communities of old Akure kingdom are related by dialect and culture, include : Akure, Iju, Itagbolu, Oba-Ile, Ilu- Abo, Ogbese, Ilara, Ipogun, Ala-elefosan, Oda, Isinigbo, Ibulesoro and others Akure speaking communities. They were farms and villages which Akure people of olden days went for farming and subsequently settled there. Most of them are being ruled by Olus and see Deji of Akure as their Paramount ruler.

Ekiti state was created from old Ondo state in1996 during a military era and the old Akure Kingdom was divided into Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore local governments. Like other kingdoms in Ondo state, Akure is not just one community but many . In the same way, my town, Owo from old Owo kindom, has many kings and communities, currently under Owo L.G.A with an extension to Ose L.G.A e.g Ijebu-Owo, Owo town, Ilale, Iyere,Isuada, Ipele, Amurin, Ipemen , Emure, Uso, Ute, Okeluse and others towns that speak owo as a dialect and has Olowo as their Paramount ruler.

    PRINCE ADEMOLA ADEGOROYE’S MISFIRE

Being an heir to the paramount throne of Akure kingdom which he had earlier contested for its kingship. He ( Prince Adegoroye) almost got it during Dr. Mimiko’s administration until die- minute that permutation change against him and lost to another Adesida’s prince who reign in Akure as Deji for a very short period . It’s a total disappointment that this such unrefined statement could come from a veteran governorship aspirant and candidate in Ondo state. In terms of education, he’s well read, a learned colleague for that matter and a proud product of the great Ife’s respected faculty of law.

The aim of this article is to correct the wrong impression of dichotomy in Akure areas credited to Hon. Ademola Adegoroye, the current minister of transportation ( state). He recently visited Gov. Akeredolu Oluwarotimi SAN to thank his newly found Messiah who revamped his drowning political career. Though, Mr. governor of Ondo state gave the glory of Hon. Adegoroye’s appointment to God while the new minister was trying to allot the role of God to Aketi as the author and finisher of his destiny. The Hon. Adegoroye’s claim to be the first minister from Akure( Akure Kingdom) is nothing but false impression and fallacy with impregnated divisive tendency .

The fact remains that Chief Olu Falae is the first minister from Akure . He is from Ilu-Abo, Akure North L.G.A of old Akure Kingdom , the former banker turned politician, who was first appointed as the secretary to the federal government of Nigeria by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, later became minister of finance of the same administration, he resigned to contest for the presidency of Nigeria under Social Democratic Party in 1992 during the ill-fated transition programs of his former boss ( Gen.Babangida). He was also a runner-up to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo of two- horse race in 1999 presidential general election, being the joint flag bearer of AD/ANPP, currently a high Chief and one of the kingmakers for Deji of Akure.

In the same vein, his (Hon.Adegoroye’s) kinsman, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, the immediate former minister of Niger/Delta(state) is from Akure. He( Alash) resigned his appointment to contest for Senate of Ondo central in the last APC primary but was betrayed by Aketi ( the newly found god father of prince Adegoroye) ,he( Sen. Alash) has is mother from Iju( Akure North) and his father from Akure town (Akure South) but migrated to Iju for settlement, the remaining of Alasoadura family members are still in Akure town. From the stated facts, the recent statement of Hon. Ademola Adegoroye of Adesida dynasty is nothing but a condemnable talk which is not better than beer parlor gist or chat.

    IN CONCLUSION

This speech ( with divisive tendency) of Hon. Ademola Adegoroye needs an urgent correction which God has used a stranger in Akure like me, but a lover of Akure people to put the records straight. The efforts of late and current Dejis of Akure to resuscitate Akure Kingdom in unity should not be thwarted by a careless talk from one of the heirs of the royal thrones of Oduduwa descendants. Despite that Akure is largest ethnic group in Ondo state, the divisive tendencies have made her to be crawling politically which Prince Ademola Adegoroye was a victim in the past.

To further buttress my points, the current Deji of Akure, H.R.H. Oba Aladelusi and his chief of staff, Prince Tony Aladelusi are from Akure North L.G.A. In fact, this prince Tony Aladelusi was a former vice chairman of Akure North during late Dr. Agagu’s administration. He (current Deji of Akure) has said at several occasions in various fora that there’s no more Akure town and Akure villages ( Akure Ile and Akure Oko) but all communities of old Akure Kingdom ( Akure South, North and Ifedore) are one. The last governorship of 2020 in Ondo state has further confirmed that Akure ( Akure Kingdom) has matured beyond dichotomous tendency of our Hon. minister of transportation ( state) in which they ( Akure people) voted for Mr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN ( an Akure man). He defeated Aketi in all Akure local governments ( Akure North, North and Ifedore) being the only three local governments won by him out of the eighteen.

    APC wins 13 LGAs
    PDP wins 17 LGAs

As collation of results progressed in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, the ruling All Progressives Congress and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party expressed great optimism that they would win the election.

Meanwhile, in a video that surfaced online, the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke and his nephew, award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, were seen celebrating what they termed the PDP’s early lead.

In the video obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, Adeleke and Davido hugged. “We did it this time,” Adeleke said, with Davido replying, “Yes”.

Also, wild jubilation engulfed PDP’s situation room, while the PDP claimed it was winning the election. However, based on the early results, there was anxiety in the camp of the APC and the governor, but an aide to the party’s chairman in the state dismissed claims that the party was jittery.

As of the time of filing this report, however, the Independent National Electoral Commission had yet to begin the announcement of results at the collation centre in Osogbo, the state capital. But checks on INEC’s result viewing portal showed that 28 out of the 30 local government areas had been fully uploaded on the portal, remaining Ife East and Orewole LGAs.

Some of the early results sighted by our correspondents showed that the two parties were in tight race in Osogbo, the state capital, Olorunda, Boluwaduro, Obokun, Egbedore and Oriade local government areas. Also, results viewed on the IReV portal randomly across the LGAs showed that the two parties were in a tight race.

No fewer than 15 political parties partook in the election but many believed the election was a two horse race between the candidate of the APC and incumbent governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, and Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP.

Other candidates were Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party; Lasun Yusuff of Labour Party; Oyegoke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party; Segun Awojide of African Action Congress; Kehinde Atanda of Action Democratic Party; Awoyemi Lukuman of Allied Peoples Movement; Adebayo Elisha of All Peoples Party; and Adeleke Adedapo of Boot Party.

Also, Rasaq Saliu of New Nigeria Peoples Party; Abede Samuel of National Rescue Movement; Ayowole Adedeji of Peoples Redemption Party; Ademola Adeseye of Young Peoples Party; and Adesuyi Olufemi of Zenith Labour Party.

The poll, which was held across 3,763 units in the 30 LGAs of the state, witnessed huge voter turnout and was largely peaceful. It was however characterised by massive vote-buying, which drew the condemnation of some candidates and civil society organisations

    Oyetola, Adeleke win

Meanwhile, the APC candidate, who voted at ward 1, LA school, Popo, Iragbiji in Boripe Local Government Area, won his polling unit with 545 votes, while the PDP candidate had 69 votes.

His deputy, Benedict Alabi, also won his polling unit at ward 6, unit 7, Baptist Day School, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area with 206 votes while PDP scored 184.

The PDP candidate, who voted at Ward 2, unit 9, Abogunde/Sagba area in Ede North Local Government Area, polled 218 votes to defeat the APC candidate, who polled 23 votes. Accord Party scored one vote.

Ogunbiyi of the Labour Party, who voted at unit 003, Ward 005, Methodist Primary school, Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire Local Government Area of the state, also won his polling unit with 125 votes against APC’s 89 votes and PDP’s 63 votes.

The National Secretary of the APC, Iyiola Omisore, won his polling unit for his party. He voted at Ward 1, Moore Unit 003, Ile Ife in Ife East Local Government Area, where the APC scored 192 votes and the PDP 168 votes.

The APC also won at the polling unit of the former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande. At polling unit 12, ward 4, Isedo I, Ita Atewogbade, Ila-Orangun, where he voted, APC scored 140 votes while PDP scored 117 votes.

Despite the rift between the Oyetola’s camp of the APC and that of his predecessor and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, the ruling party won at polling unit 1, ward 8, Isare Ifofin, Ilesa East Local Government Area. The APC scored 164 votes while the PDP scored 134 votes.

However, at the popular Agowande/Osogbo GRA/Governor’s office polling unit in Olorunda Local Government Area, the ruling APC, which scored 106, lost to the PDP, which scored 117.

Meanwhile, checks on INEC portal showed the PDP in early lead, with seven LGAs won, while the ruling APC had secured victory in four LGAs.

The LGAs won by the PDP were Osogbo, Olorunda, Ede South, Orolu, Odo Otin, Ifelodun and Irepodun.

In Osogbo, the PDP candidate, Adeleke, polled 30,401 votes, to trump APC’s Oyetola, who garnered 22,952 votes.

In Olorunda LGA, Adeleke polled 21, 350 votes while Oyetola got 18,709 votes.

In Ede South, Adeleke got 19,438 votes while Oyetola had 5,704 votes.

In Orolu LGA, Adeleke polled 10,282 votes, while Oyetola got 9,928 votes.

In Odo Otin LGA, Adeleke got 14,003 votes while Oyetola scored 13,482 votes.

In Ifelodun LGA, Adeleke scored 17,107 votes while Oyetola garnered 16,068 votes.

Adeleke also won Irepodun LGA with 14,369 votes while the APC candidate polled 12,122.

However, the APC defeated the PDP in Iwo LGA, Ayedade LGA, Boripe LGA and Isokan LGA.

In Iwo LGA, Oyetola scored 17, 421 to defeat Adeleke, who got 16,914 votes.

In Ayedade LGA, the APC got 14,527 votes to defeat Adeleke who had 13,380 votes.

In Boripe LGA, Oyetola also emerged victorious, polling 21,205 votes to defeat the PDP candidate who had 7595.

Oyetola won Isokan LGA by a slim margin, securing 10,833 votes while Adeleke got 10,777.

  • Breaking: Group gives Buhari 14 days ultimatum to inaugurate NDDC Board

    by

The Ilaje Leadership Forum saddled with responsibilities of security of lives and properties, and agitating for the needs of its people, has given a fourteen-day ultimatum dated This 14th Day of July till the 28th Day of July for General Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) or witness shutdown of all NDDC activities and properties in Ondo State.

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Ilaje Leadership Forum, Mr. Rawa Felix, Chairman, Niger Delta Youth Movement Prince Akinfemi Omojuwa, and Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, Publicity Secretary Ilaje Leadership Forum.

According to the statement, the group has observed with keen interest the circumstances encompassing the constitution of the NDDC board for close to eight years of Mr. Buhari Administration. We would have proceeded to dungeon observing, but for the affection of our region and the country.

The statement unedited; “We have tinkered and observed with keen interest the circumstances encompassing the constitution of the NDDC board for close to eight years of Mr. Buhari Administration. We would have proceeded to dungeon observing, but for the affection of our region and the country.”

“The continuous running of NDDC by a solitary administrator at the instance of the Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Akpabio directly or indirectly at the eyes of President Muhammadu Buhari, is purely junta, undemocratic and anti-development, hence rejected by the people of the region. The people of the region are indisposed to a one-man show in a commission that is supposed to take care of the developmental needs of nine states, namely, Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers become the daily bread of Mr. President and his conspirators and still depriving the people that own it with a sense of belonging.

“Recalled that since Mr. Buhari came on board as President of Nigeria in 2015 and reelected in 2019, NDDC Board was constituted only between May 2018 to early 2019, while the Act establishing the Commission provided among other things that it will be dispensed by a Board comprising a Chairman, Managing Director, Executive Directors and Commissioners who will be raddled from the nine states that made up the Niger Delta States for four years.

“However, this provision has been clamorously sabotaged by General Muhamadu Buhari Rtd and his co-travelers in the Presidency. There is no law for either Interim Management Committee or Sole Administration in the Act that establishes NDDC.

Gumption may reference you that the so-referred forensic audit that has been tactically directed by General Buhari Rtd and his famous malabsorption Senator Akpabio to strangulate the commission could be conducted with a substantive board that binds all representatives from the nine states and other parts of the country if the people’s interest was considered.”

“CONSEQUENTLY;  The Ilaje Leadership Forum saddled with responsibilities of security of lives and properties, and agitating for the needs of its people, hereby promulgate a fourteen-day ultimatum dated This 14th Day of July till 28th Day of July for General Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the substantive board of the NDDC or witness shutdown of all NDDC activities and properties in Ondo State.

“Mr. President, members of the National Assembly and security agencies should adhere strictly towards the constitution of the substantive board of the NDDC, within fourteen days, to prevent a total breakdown of law and order that will equally affect crude oil exploration and exploitation activities in the state.

“There will be restriction of movement across the Niger Delta States and all activities of NDDC in the Niger Delta States should be suspended till after MR. Muhammadu Buhari’s administration expired as President of Nigeria.

“All concerns stakeholders in the Niger Delta States, Traditional Rulers, members of the public, The Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM) Ondo State Chapter, The Mahin Aheri Etikan Youth, The Federation of Ugbo Youth, The Ilaje Patriotic Movement (Gwama), Students Bodies,  Other Youth Organizations of Ese-Odo Local Government, and other sister states whose integrity in this agitations had not been compromised with the Presidency in depriving other States are directed by  this publication to get prepared to shutdown NDDC activities in everywhere is found, should the federal government failed to inaugurate NDDC Board within 14 days.”

  • BREAKING: Baba Ijesha sentenced to 16 years over sexual assault

    by

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court has sentenced Nollywood actor and comedian, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha to 16 years imprisonment over sexual assault.

Justice Taiwo gave the judgment on Thursday adding that the jail term will run concurrently.

Baba Ijesha was convicted for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old daughter of his colleague, actress and comedienne, Damilola Adekoya with a stage name Princess.

Recall that operatives of the Nigeria Police arrested Baba Ijesha April 2021 for sleeping with the victim since she was seven years old.

He was reported to the police on April 19, 2021 by Princess at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation

The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.

Few days later, Baba Ijesha was arraigned before Justice Taiwo facing a six-count charge of child defilement bordering on allegations of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

In further court proceedings, it was ruled that the CCTV recordings on Baba Ijesha may have been tampered with.

In February 2022, a defence witness and expert in CCTV installation and maintenance, Adeleke Lawrence suggested this before an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court last year.

Lawrence alluded to this while being led in evidence by Babatunde Ogala (SAN) in the ongoing trial of the Nollywood comedian.

Four video recordings of Baba Ijesha were played during resumed proceedings following the request of Ogala.

The last court appearance finalised the case in June 2022 and fixed the final judgment for July 14, 2022.

The judge ruled that there was no evidence before the court, which proved that the embattled Nollywood actor was tortured into giving the statement to the police.

  • THE QUEST FOR VAIN GLORY BY HON FEMI ADEKAMBI AHEAD OF ASIWAJU 2023 IN ONDO STATE…….Dr. Akeredolu O.N

Unnecessary outburst from Hon. Femi Adekambi calls for caution.

    INTRODUCTION

Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of APC won the last keenly contested APC primary on the ground of fairness, justice and equity. Tinubu’s speech that went viral while addressing delegates in Ogun state was a quest for the above-stated principles of life. He mentioned his sacrifices and prices paid by him to advance the course of APC and individuals who had benefitted from his good gestures. The initially criticized speech later became a golden gimmick that won the primary for Jagaban of Borgu. No doubt, Emilokan of Nigeria will win the Ondo state massively, many factors that will work for Sen. Ahmed Tinubu including his consistency as a leader to most politicians in the state.

He (Tinubu) has been spending, bankrolling and supporting various candidates in Ondo state since 2005/2006. Many politicians in the state e.g. Dr Mimiko, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, Aketi, Alasoadura, Ademola Adegoroye, Isaac Kekemeke, Olusola Oke, Olusola Iji and many unnumberable others had one time or the other enjoyed from Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu’s benevolence. Another thing that will work for Tinubu in Ondo state is the fact that he promoted Ondo indigenes like Hon. Wunmi Edet, Hon Ajata, Hon. Jibayo Adeyeye and others, who were elected into various political offices in Lagos State under the watch of Asiwaju.

Also, Ondo state has been a bedrock to the progressives in Southwest and we had never backstabbed the struggles of Yoruba in the past but always at the forefront of our common agitations. This time around, that Asiwaju is contesting, everyone in the state wants to vote for our incoming president. Putting the above-stated points in view, you don’t need any soothsayer to tell you that Asiwaju will win massively in the state. Having known this, most of the fairweather politicians in the state like Hon Femi Adekambi and co. have started causing problems for the party that already scattered by Aketi’s imposition during the last APC primaries in the state.

    ABENA AND ADEKAMBI

I must state categorically here that I’m not for anybody but belong to everyone in Ondo state APC. By the grace of God, I’m neither rich nor poor, I don’t need to go to anybody to get my basic life responsibilities done for my immediate family members or dependants, therefore, I don’t need to be economical with the truth on any ground. To me, I see Hon. Femi Adekambi is a fairweather politician, who started his political career in Ondo state ACN, contested for the House of Representatives election of Owo/Ose in 2011, claimed Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu was his mentor, failed like other ACN candidates in that election in Ondo state to labour party of Dr Mimiko’s candidates.

He (Femi Adekambi) couldn’t wait like others, being enticed by Dr Mimiko’s bait of commissionership in one of the ministries in the state, he left the ACN and joined Iroko of Ondo state politics in the Labour party and they finally moved to PDP. When the battle for the political soul of the state was at its peak in 2015 and 2016, he fought on PDP’s side against the newly founded APC in the state. It’s on record that he worked against the governorship aspiration of Aketi 2016, despite they are kinsmen i.e. they both came from Owo. I don’t have a problem with Hon. Femi Adekambi for working for anyone he liked then as permitted by the Nigerian constitution but his coming to APC should be a blessing rather than his current status of a troublemaker and a nuisance.

Hon Abena at the other end, started as a House of Representatives member under PDP of Akure South and North federal constituency in 2003, became a ranking member in 2011 with labour party, decamped to ACN as a member of green chamber, fought Dr Mimiko and his vindictive party, though not without a scar, sacrificed many things including losing his second term mandate at the Supreme Court. He worked for the formation of APC. He spearheaded Aketi’s governorship while people like Hon. Femi Adekambi were busy working to scuttle Aketi’s aspiration, so he (Ade Adekambi) could contest for Senate in 2019 of Ondo North. It was not a joke that Aketi appointed Hon. Abena as secretary to the state government to appreciate his efforts for the party.

Like other politicians e.g. H.E. Agboola Ajayi, Prince Folagbade Amodeni, Rt. hon. Taofeek Abdulsalam, when Hon. Abena was maltreated by Aketi, he resigned from his appointment but was prevailed on by Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu not to leave the party. Jagaban of Borgu openly confirmed to a campaign crowd in the state that he ordered Hon. Abena not to deflect to another party before Aketi’s re-election in 2020.

    IN CONCLUSION

Ordinarily, if I want to be biased, I should support Hon. Femi Adekambi, being my kinsman but my principle of standing with the truth at all times won’t allow me. Nothing giving to Hon Abena can be considered too big. Definitely, someone from the Akure areas of Ondo central senatorial district, will be the director general of Asiwaju’s campaign for 2023 in Ondo state because of the tendency of these people to lean toward PDP, mostly when the governor is from the North and deputy governor is from the south. This unnecessary noise and uncultured attitude of Hon. Femi Adekambi should be condemned by the lovers of APC, including the governor of the state and party chairman.

We don’t need Hon. Femi Adekambi in Ondo state APC, after all, he wasn’t around when the party won in the previous elections. If he wants to test his popularity, he can go and campaign for the candidate of PDP or better still, join the OBI-dient movement of the labour party in the state and see how featherweight he is politically, not his present quest for vain glory. If he (Adekambi) wants to work for Tinubu, he should be ready to respect the elders of the party who have been consistently working for the victories of our party in the past, no doubt, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde (Abena) is among the few politicians in this category.
