OAUSTECH holds first inaugural lecture

The first inaugural lecture of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) will hold today.
This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Robert Sunday Ogunduyile during a press briefing to announce the lecture.

The lecture according to him would be delivered by Prof. Olakunle David Teniola, one of the first two professors produced by the university about a decade ago, titled: “Invisible Soldiers and Fermentation – Impact on Food Security and Industrialization”.

The VC, while speaking with newsmen noted that the university has achieved a lot with the support of the governor and efforts of the management and governing council.

“Today, the university has graduated five sets of students. And if not for the dreaded covid-19 pandemic that shook the whole world in 2019, the sixth set would have completed their programmes by now.

“And the university can boast of over (20) first class graduates, with over (206) in the second class upper category. They were not trained to be job seekers, but job creators and employers of labour. All these we were able to achieve with the support of the state government.” Prof. Ogunduyile said.

The Vice Chancellor identified paucity of fund, uncompleted and prolonged hostel building project by OSOPADEC and NDDC, uncompleted building projects such as School of Science, School of ICT and low response from philanthropists and donors among others as part of challenges facing the institution.
He, therefore solicited for the help of the good people of Ondo State, philanthropists, donors in moving OAUSTECH to a greater heights.

Olakunle David Temiola, a Professor of Industrial Microbiology, who is also the inaugural lecturer said the lecture would impact so much on the audience, “since I am going to talk on how we can reduce unemployment in our land.”

The inaugural lecturer who is also the Dean of the School of Science, said the lecture would also talk about fermented food processes, the impact on people, how it can be used to curb poverty by creating employment even in Industrialization.
