Port Ondo, solution to Apapa gridlock, says Gov. Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has said the only solution to the gridlock in Apapa, Lagos State, is to have a deep sea port in Ondo.

He said the proposed Port Ondo, if established, would accommodate and reduce the unending traffic in Apapa and promote economy activities in the Sunshine State.

Governor Akeredolu spoke in his office on Thursday while receiving members of the Ilaje League of Professionals led by the Chairman, Engr. Benson Obayelure.

He said the Port will not be to the advantage of the state or the nation alone but to the entire Southwest, stressing that Ondo state is naturally endowed to have a deep sea port with natural draught.

The Governor assured that he will continue to talk to the Federal Government on the need to make the dream of Port Ondo a reality for the good of the country.

Arakunrin Akeredolu also expressed his administration’s commitment to continue to engage the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on the need to complete the power project in Okitipupa so as to restore electricity to the south.

Earlier, the chairman of the Ilaje League of Professionals, Engr. Benson Obeyelu commended the Governor’s giant strides in the state.
