Ayetoro sea incursion: Monarch commend ODSG over relief materials

The Ogeloyinbo of Aiyetoro Community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Micah Olaseni Ajijo, has appreciated Ondo state  Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for his prompt intervention with the provisions of relief materials to victims of the Ayetoro sea incursion.

Meanwhile, Akeredolu, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday, made formal handing over of relief materials to victims of the Ayetoro ocean surge in Igbokoda, the local government headquarters, said the world bank had been involved to fund construction works in Aiyetoro community which will be carried out by the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project NEWMAP.

While speaking with our correspondent, The Monarch appreciated the government said, at last government palliatives finally reach our people whose livelihoods have been affected by the sea surge.

“Highly appreciate that at last Government palliatives finally reach our people whose livelihoods have been affected by the sea surge that has made thousands displaced in neighboring towns and villages”.

“What is more important in the medium term is for Government and the oil companies (Shell Atlantic, Chevron, Corn oil ) and the ecological department to come to assist Aiyetoro Community to meet its climate-related challenges through environmentally sustainable and climate resilience infrastructure which is the subject of the World Bank-financed Study under Ondo State NEWSMAP”.

Therefore, the Monarch appealed to Governor Akeredolu, SAN to continue with a good job and still make this on his front burner.

The Ogeloyinbo of Aiyetoro added that he had planned to set up high profile Ilaje sons and daughters Advocacy Group to help mobilize and sustain the momentum for the realization of the Aiyetoro Shoreline Protection Project.
