Carpenter dies carrying out bricklayer’s job

A middle-aged carpenter has reportedly lost his life while performing the job of a bricklayer in Okitipupa, the headquarter of Okitipupa local government area of Ondo state.

It was gathered that the wall of a dilapidated classroom where he was working fell on him and died.

The Carpenter, a father of four was said to have got a contract to pull down the dilapidated two-classroom building at the Local Authority Primary School, behind St. Williams Group of Schools, Okitipupa.

The deceased Carpenter, popularly known as Aare was said to have started pulling down the building some days ago, even before the former headteacher of the school was transferred.

The New Headmistress, Mrs Abioola Ekundayo who resumed less than two weeks ago was said to have obtained authority of the supervisory organ of the school to go ahead with the demolition of the old structure built in the 1950s.

The carpenter, a native of Ode Irele died in the course of the job.

The body of Aare has been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital Okitipupa.

L . A. Primary School, Okitipupa was said to have been founded in 1955.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the development, describing the incident as unfortunate.
