Foundation donates solar-powered borehole to Ondo community

An NGO, Aduro Foundation, on Monday, inaugurated a solar-powered borehole it donated to Igbisin-Oloto community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, Dr Tony Aduro, said that the project was motivated by the quest to end the perennial water challenges facing the community.

He also identified the need for development to go round the communities through provision of qualitative education, good food and hygienic water, which were the three main focus of his foundation, as being behind the project.

According to him, after educating the people, there is the need for provision of good food and hygienic water for them.

“Aduro foundation constructed the borehole to end the long-time water challenges and provide hygienic water in order to avert surging cholera and other cases associated with impure water.

“During the inauguration of the library and laboratory at Igboegunrin recently, Kabiyesi requested for a borehole in his community, I felt obliged, more so that he did not request for personal gain,” he said.

The business mogul, however, promised to extend the projects of the NGO from the communities to other towns and cities across the state.

The host traditional ruler who is the Oloto of Igbinsin-Oloto kingdom, Oba Michael Seewo, lauded the project and expressed joy over the prompt response to his request, even as he allayed the fear of any water-borne disease in the community.

“On behalf of my family and my kingdom, I prayed for good health for you; you will succeed in all your endeavours and God will continue to abide with you and your family,” he prayed.

While performing the inauguration, the Jegun of Idepe-Okitpupa, Oba Michael Adetoye-Obatuga, poured encomiums on the organisation, describing him as a great philanthropist.

He called on other sons and daughters of the Ikale extraction to emulate the philanthropist and urged residents of the community to maintain and guard the project jealousy.

The foundation had aided education through award of scholarships to students, construction of boreholes in about eight communities as well as libraries and science laboratories in some schools and establishment of Aduro Farms.

Other traditional rulers at the inauguration as well as residents of the community took part in the drinking of water from the new borehole.
