“I was a member of a cultist group called Aye and I am the leader, number one, in Igbokoda before I was arrested and sentenced to a Correctional Centre in Owo.
“I was arrested this morning in Igbokoda, but I escaped from Owo Prison in a jailbreak with some six other people after spending two weeks in the prison.

“I met with some people in the prison led by one Dad, who have planned on how to escape from the prison before I got there and they co-opted me into the plans and it was successful.

“We escaped through the toilet and it took us some days as we always fill the toilet with water to weaken the place. There was a Hausa guy who understands the techniques and eventually we succeeded in escaping from the prison.

“I headed straight to Akure in my house to change my cloth and left the town to Ogun State where I work with some people before returning to Igbokoda to work with the fishermen on the sea. I only come to Igbokoda to relax when the policemen spotted me and arrested me.”

Speaking on his escapades as the leader of the cult group, Ikuhemeyin said: “It’s been a long I was involved in the killing, I have changed and I only killed three people during a reprisal attack with a rival cult group.

  • Police seal church over alleged abduction of 77 persons

    by

Residents around the Whole Bible Believer Church also known as Ondo Church at Valentino area where many children and youths were rescued from its underground have vowed to stop its operation in the area.

When our reporter visited the area yesterday, stern-looking policemen were seen keeping vigil at the church and prevented some of the worshippers who turned up for the Sunday service from gaining entrance.

Our reporter observed that security men were strategically positioned around the church to prevent anyone entering the building.

Policemen stormed the church after 77 people comprising 26 children, eight teenagers and 43 adult members were rescued from its underground apartment and arrested the pastor and his aides.

The residents lamented that they had earlier complained about the church’s wrong teachings and practices, making many of them to stop worshipping in the church without any action until last Friday.

They however expressed relief that security men have worked on the complaints of some parents who reported the case to the police in Ondo town.

One of the residents, Mrs Adeniyan Adenike said they were happy that the pastor and his cohorts were arrested and said members of the church have been very violent and they practice doctrines alien to Bible teachings.

“They will keep children here against the wish of their parents and beat them up if they dare try to take their children home. There were women who divorced their husbands to live here. No non member can enter the church. They don’t even honour the police. We are happy that they are no longer here.”

A middle-aged man, Mr Tunde Akiola who also resides in the street described the church as a very dangerous place which has been tearing families apart with false doctrines.

He described the activities of the church as against the teachings of Christ.

He said “the man who started the church had been chased away and they took over the church. What was happening here was not ordinary. What they were doing here were against what the bible says we should be doing.

“The pastor is known for drinking alcohol in the church. We even found used condoms inside the church when we went inside. A wife will leave her husband and be living here. They have caterers cooking for the people camped in the church. We are happy that the government is involved now.”

It was also gathered that the pastor of the church had earlier been charged to court in Ondo this year after one of his church members reported him to the police.

A source revealed that the pastor was accused of anti-social behaviour and related accusations including keeping one of the children in his church.

Further gathered that some of the church members, especially the young ones, supported the church against their parents in court, giving an indication that they were brainwashed.

When inquired about the court case, a source close to the church revealed that the case was struck out due to the intervention of an unnamed personality.

A woman who lives in the street expressed happiness at the latest development, stating that the church have been a menace to the street for a very long time with their dangerous activities and the intervention of relevant authorities was a relief for the people.

She said “we are very happy that this church is  sealed now. It has always been a problem for us in this street. If you walk pass this church and we dare look at them, they will throw stones at us.

“They will keep children here against the wish of their parents and beat them up if they dare try to take their children home. There were women who divorced their husbands to live here. Nobody can enter the church. They don’t even honour the police. We are happy that they are no longer here.”

Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ondo West Local government chapter, Rev’d Dr. Sunday Olowoniyi said the incident is a vivid representation of the challenges the body and the community are currently facing from churches that are not registered under any of the five blocs of CAN.

He said “we are aware of the development. Even though the church is in Ondo west local government, the man in question is not a member of the Christian Association of Nigeria. A woman was brought to my office on Friday.

“She narrated how her children are locked up in a church in the name of a programme. She described how she was thrown over the fence for trying to get her children. CAN taskforce accompanied the woman to the place but they were denied access.”

He continued that “so, I informed human rights officers and the police about the issue and they went there with the woman. Some of the police and human rights officers who went there were attacked and injured by members of the church. I went down to the church alongside security officers to monitor the situation. The police officers were able to gain entrance into the church after a long time and arrests were made. The children found there were released. The mother of the girl told me yesterday that the girl has written her common entrance examinations. The case has been taken to Akure for further investigations.”

He added that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the local government has made it a duty to ensure that churches who are fond of perpetrating evil in the name of God are disallowed from operating within the local government area.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has hailed rescue of 50 children abducted and held against their will in Ondo State.

A statement by UNICEF Nigeria Representative, Peter Hawkins, on the release of abducted children in Ondo State, said:”Children should not be targets of violence in whatever guise.”

“Violence against children is condemnable and we call on governments to redouble efforts to protect children against all forms of violenc,,” the global humanitarian organisation said in the statement.

The terse statement read in full: “UNICEF commends the rescue of more than 50 children abducted and held against their will in Ondo State.

“Children should not be targets of violence in whatever guise. Violence against children is condemnable and we call on governments to redouble efforts to protect children against all forms of violence.

“A society’s health is measured by how it treats its children.”

  • Asiwaju, the only prepared president of Nigeria of all time…….Dr. Akeredolu O.N

Why Asiwaju Ahmed Tinibu will be the best president Nigeria ever had.

    INTRODUCTION

From the time of the pre-independent era, the race of whom became the first prime minister of the nation was purely on ego rather than preparedness for the leadership of the nascent nation. Among the trio of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, the Ikenne-born Yoruba former premier seemed to be more prepared than his contemporaries but never had the opportunity to exhibit his contents for the benefit of the new country.

Sir. Tafawa Balewa who was a stooge of Sir Ahmadu Bello, finally became the prime minister, though neither ready mentally nor by experience, and led the country because his party controlled the majority of the members in parliament, following an alliance between great Zik and Surdanna of Sokoto. The better prepared Chief Awolowo was relegated to opposition leader and finally imprisoned in Calabar, after the unfathomable, ill-conceived treason trial. This marked the beginning of the end of that political dispensation. The young military majors in their late twenties and early thirties truncated the corrupted political era through the bloodiest coup in Nigeria’s history.

Major Kaduna Nzeogwu who led the almost successful first military incursion into power, with the plans to sanitize the system, could only spend a few days in charge of the Northern region where the coup was most effective but later handed over power to his superior, tribesman, (Gen. Aguinyi Ironsi) who was more concerned with frolic life than futuristic plans which his six-month-old military headship of Nigeria demanded. All the plans of Major Nzeogwu to rejig the Nigeria political sphere and ensure the right person with needed ideas became the prime minister were a mirage. Worse still, the former regional governments were centralized. The counter-coup was led by Major Muritala Muhammed and Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi was finally killed with his friend, Col. Adekunle Fajuyi.

Gen. Gowon became president because he was the most senior military officer from the North to pacify his region which lost most of its political elites in the ill-fated coup of five southern revolutionary military majors. When Gen. Muritala Muhammed was forced to lead the young Northern officers who were not happy with Gen. Gowon’s styles, he only spent 6 months before he was killed and Gen. Obasanjo suddenly found himself with the leadership responsibilities of the nation he never dreamed of. Likewise, President Shehu Shagari was preparing for Senate when some power blocks nominated him for the presidency through NPN. Gen. Buhari-led’s military junta of 1983 was never prepared to lead the country but took over when corruption in the political arena became unbearable. The US CIA helped palace coup of Gen. Babangida to eliminate the more rigid and less Western countries friendly government of Buhari/Idiagbon.

Gen. Babangida used Chief Ernest Shonekan’s interim government to step aside, while Chief M.K.O Abiola sponsored Gen. Abacha’s coup to reclaim his June 12 mandate. Gen. Abdulsalam’s transition government was too transient to be impactful while Chief Olusegun Obasanjo found himself at Aso rock after his military reign of almost three years in Dodan barrack, because some retired northern military cabals preferred him to Chief Olu Falae, being seen as the only southerner who could be trusted with power. President Umaru Yaradua was handpicked by Chief Obasanjo while Dr Goodluck Jonathan was a president by circumstances. President Buhari was brought into politics in 2003, being the only northerner with enough influence to challenge incumbent president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

WHY ASIWAJU AHMED TINIBU WILL BE THE BEST PRESIDENT.

Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, no doubt, he’s a great man. His first experience in the political arena is very unusual. Leaving the known for unknown political adventure by resigning from a very lucrative job at Exxon Mobil as an executive officer to contest the senatorial election in Lagos State which he won with an unprecedented margin, could only be by God’s leading. This could be likened to when God called Biblical Moses out of the comfort zone of his inlaw, Jethro, to go and rescue the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The ill-fated transition program of Gen. Babangida was very brief but its impacts are forever lingering in our memories.

Having pitched his tent with Alhaji Shehu Musa Yaradua’s PDM, and worked for Chief MKO Abiola’s presidential ambition of 1993, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinibu was a pillar of NADECO, a pro-democracy group which withstood Gen. Abacha’s military junta. While most of them were killed, maimed, and their properties and sources of livelihood destroyed, the Jagaban of Borgu was succour to the escaped NADECO members in the far-away USA. Following the death of tyrannical Gen. Abacha, he was elected the executive governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.

Being the only surviving governor of AD in 2003, instead of collapsing into the national party (PDP), he stood his ground and worked for the rejuvenation of opposition in Nigeria. He finally became a rallying force of the leading opposition party. Knowing fully well the need for a merger with like-minded opposition parties to displace a ruling party (PDP), Asiwaju of Lagos state sacrificed his ego to form APC. At the peak of the trouble of the Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidency, he gave up the vice presidential slot to his Christian lieutenant, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Finally, the party he midwived changed its status from opposition to ruling party, the first in the history of Nigeria.

After paying his dues in Nigeria’s political landscape by supporting presidential candidates, from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of AC in 2007, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu of ACN in 2011 and two terms of president Buhari in APC in 2015 and 2019, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinibu openly declared that it’s the turn of Yoruba and he is the Yoruba man to be next president come 2023 (Emi lokan 2023). Against all odds and gang-ups, he defeated other aspirants to emerge the flag bearer of APC in the last national convention.

    IN CONCLUSION
In one of his campaigns before the recent presidential primary, Asiwaju like Chief Awolowo and Chief MKO Abiola, said he has a lifetime ambition to govern Nigeria, put smiles on the faces of the masses and change Nigeria’s narratives among the African countries and entire world. There is no fear over his capacity to deliver on his promises, he did well in Lagos State where he was a governor for eight years with three generations of successors, the first of its type in Nigeria.
Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu excelled in the business, political and corporate worlds. His records are in the public domain for verification, being the only former governor who had been several scrutinized by anti-graft agencies without any incriminating or indicting evidence of corruption. He is a leader who has replicated several people like him in the current political era. Jagaban of Borgu will duplicate his developmental programs that redefined Lagos State in entire Nigeria. Kindly watch out for a new Nigeria with Asiwaju, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.
