  • Fadairo Picks APC Nomination Form for Akure South/ North House of Rep. Election

    As the race to the Akure South/ North House of Representatives Election gathered momentum, one of the leading and hopeful aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Oluwafemi Fadairo has purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms in a bid to further demonstrate his determination and seriousness in the contest.

    It would be recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) last week released the time table for the Akure South/ North House of Representatives Election.

    In the time table released by INEC, the House of Representatives Election for Akure South/ North was slated for February 26th ,2022 across the 23 wards in the Constituency.

    By this development, it appears that Fadairo is the first aspirant of the APC to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms of the party and by extension the most serious and popular candidate for the election out of dozen of other aspirants running under the APC ticket.

    Fada has fondly called by his admirers commended the Party for a level playing ground.

    He particularly appreciated the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for his neutrality in order to deepen the internal democracy.

    He commended the governor giant strides particularly in the area of security which he said led to the birth of Western Nigeria Security Network code named Amotekun which has helped to reduce Crime and criminality across the region.

    The current Director of Administration to the Senate President added that the large numbers of aspirants jostling for ticket of the APC showed that the Party is growing at all levels.

    While speaking with newsmen, Fadairo said he is committed to the common goal of the ordinary man in the street which he said he has been doing for many years even before throwing his heart to the contest.

    Fadairo hinted that addressing the challenges confronting the State was a possible task because the state has a lot of vibrant and talented young people to turn the country around and the more reason he is vieying for the office.

    He said, as a grassroots politicians, he has always been in touch with the people welfare and well-being.

    He listed some of achievements to collections of free Jamb forms for over 750 students with 350 among them already in tetiary institutions across the country, grading of street roads, installation of transformer to different communities, erection of primary schools facilities like toilets, youth and women empowerment through the provision interest free soft loan among others.

  • Akeredolu Appoints Adetunji Adeleye As Special Adviser On Security Matters

    Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has approved the appointment of Chief Adetunji Adeleye as his Special Adviser on Security Matters.

    The appointment takes immediate effect.

    Chief Adeleye will, however, continue to function as the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun Corps).

    The appointment is part of the efforts of the Governor to further strengthen the security arrangement and improve the working relationship between government and security agencies in the state.

    Governor Akeredolu congratulates the new appointee while charging him to double efforts in the fight against crime and criminals in the state.

  • GOV AKEREDOLU LEADS SOUTHWEST GOVS TO WELCOME PRESIDENT BUHARI IN OGUN

    Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Thursday, led his brother Governors in the region to welcome President
    Muhammadu Buhari to Ogun State.

    The President visited Ogun State to commission landmark projects and the Gateway City Monument Park and Sagamu Interchange.

    Other Governors at the event include; Governors of Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola; Oyo, Seyi Makinde; represented by his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan; Yobe, Mai Mala Buni as well as former Governors of Ogun, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

    The landmark projects commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari are 14 kilometre Ijebu-Ode-Mojoda-Epe Road; Shagamu road; Gateway City Gate among others.

  • Another Set Of Promises Fulfilled In The Educational Sector by HON Mayowa Akinfolarin

    Towards the end of last year 2021, Rt. Honourable Mayowa Akinfolarin the member house of Representatives, Representing the good people of odigbo & Okeigbo/Ileoluji Federal Constituency embarked on the construction of  blocks of classrooms across his federal Constituency.

    These classrooms were fully furnished with modern facilities and amenities such as modern chairs and tables, ceiling fans, fully furnished staff rooms, as well as modern toilets. So far so good the Chairman House Committee on Federal Road Safety Commission has completed blocks of classrooms in the following Communities.

    (1) L.A Primary school popularly known as  (Agboligi) Araromi obu which happens to be the latest of completed classrooms.

    (2) Blocks of classrooms at Community Primary School Aperin

    (3) Odigbo High school, Odigbo.

    (4) St. Stephens AglicanPrimary school Okeigbo and

    (5) Army Children primary school Otu Costain(ongoing and about 85% near completion) among others that are still awaiting construction to kick off.

    In one of the oversight visits of the lawmakers to those educational Edifices put up for use for the students, he enjoined the benefitting communities to make judicious use of the learning facilities and to imbibe the culture of maintenance so as to enjoy the projects for a long period of time.
    He gave an assurance of more projects that will affect the lives of his constituents positively as he pray for more progress and development of our dear federal constituency.

  • Mojere Market: Akure south LGA constitutes caretaker committee

    It was a sigh of relief for traders and people of Mojere market has a new Caretaker Committee which will oversee the affairs of the market until substantive members are put in place was constituted yesterday.

    The Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi Esq who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Gbenga Fasua appreciates the traders anticipated support.

    He commended them for the peace that reigns in the market in recent times.

    The council boss noted that many of the traders had been working in the market for the past 40 years without acrimony and social disorder .

    He however thanked the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN who has been doing very well to ensure security of lives and properties.

    He added that the Local had visited the market earlier and heard about the complaint raised by the traders which necessitate the formation of the committee.

    On this note, the council boss appreciates the Deji of Akure Kingdom, HRM. Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun 11 for being a respected Royal father with great passion for the development of Akure community

    He emphasized that the former Caretaker Committee which had been on ground over the years has now been dissolved.

    Sunshine Queens Football Club of Akure Wednesday defeated FC Robo 2-1 in a thrilling Southwest derby at the Ondo State Sports Complex Akure.

    Goals from Abdulrasheed Mariam and Biyi Folajomi help the Betty Babes coast home with all points the NWFL match day three contest.

    Miriam gave the Tayo Onilude tinkered side the lead in the 25th minute after she poked home from a good team move.

    The hosts nearly the double their advantage at the strike of halftime but the Lagos visitors’ Robo goalkeeper stood firm to stop what would have been spectacular goal from way out.

    Second half substitute, Folajomi doubled the lead for Queens 10 minutes into restart with her first touch of the game.

    The Betty Babes kept up the tempo and could have pulled away further at the hour mark, but Ufomba Chiwendu missed tapping home from goal mouth by a whisker.

    The visitors rallied late and scored consolation goal in stoppages time, but there was no denying Queens their first of the season and a perfect birthday gift to Club and Ondo Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

    Onilude: “I’m very happy and excited with the result, we are coming out gradually and I’m sure we will come out better in our subsequent matches.

    “FC Robo is one of the best team in the Nigeria Women Football League, but there is no team that is undeafitable, we got our chances and we make use of them.

    “Despite the victory, we will still go back to the drawing board and asses ourselves and ensure we adjust where it necessary for better performance in our next game.” She said.

    On his own, FC Robo Coach, Emmanuel Orobosa said he will go back home and prepare for their next game.

    He added that the match was a good game, the match officials try their best, but not happy with the end result.

  • Former Oyo Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala dies at 71

    Former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala is dead.

    He died at the age of 71.

    Though details of his death were sketchy, multiple reports said he died in his sleep early today (Wednesday).

    Alao-Akala, a former police officer died exactly a month after the monarch of his town, Ogbomoso, died.

    Alao-Akala, born 3 June 1950, was governor of Oyo state between 2007 and 2011.

    He also served as the Deputy Governor during the administration of Senator Rashidi Ladoja, from 2003 to 2007.

    During Ladoja’s turbulent reign as Governor of Oyo State, Alao-Akala became the Acting Governor of the state for 11 months when Ladoja when impeached and later reinstated by the court.

    Until his death, he was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

  • Gunmen kill policeman in Ondo

    Tragedy struck in the ancient city of Oka Akoko southwest local government as an unidentified police officer was shot dead by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers.

    The sad incident which attracted attention of many people occurred around oke maria axis of oka Akoko on Tuesday.

    Ondo state police public relations officer DSP olufunmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident but did not give details of the victims.

    Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, received the news of the death of elder statesman and former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan with a heavy heart.

    Governor Akeredolu described his death as a huge loss to the country, while noting that the vast experience of the elder statesman was an asset to the country, particularly with the array of challenges confronting the nation.

    The Governor said the late Shonekan was committed to the peace and unity of the country, and pursued it with vigor and dedication as a patriot.

    Arakunrin Akeredolu maintained that the service of the former Head of Interim National Government will never be forgotten in the annals of history of the country.

    “Chief Ernest Shonekan was a Nationalist per excellence. His belief in a United and Peaceful Nigeria was unparalleled. He was dedicated to the progress and development of the county. He will be sorely missed.

    “His historic and patriotic role in maintaining the unity of the country was one of the many things that endeared him to many. He was indeed, an asset, his counsels were useful for national cohesion and progress.” The Governor said.

    Governor Akeredolu prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest, while commiserating with his wife, the government and people of Ogun State.
