The lawmaker representing Ile-oluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Mayowa Akinfolarin has expressed shock over the death of his colleague Hon. Adedayo Omolafe popularly known as “Expensive”, saying it was the great melancholy and sad news of the century.
Akinfolarin described “Expensive” as an astute politician with a large heart that is well-loved among his people and his philanthropic gestures will not be forgotten in a jiffy.
He, therefore, condole with the Immediate family of the deceased, the people of Akure kingdom, Ondo State people Democratic party, and the Entire member of the House of representatives.
Besides, the late Omolafe wrote on his Twitter page, few days before his demise that there is no certainty of tomorrow because life is unpredictable.
“The truth is you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.” He tweeted.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, receives the news of the death of member of the House Representative, representing Akure South/North Federal Constituency, Hon. Adedayo Omolafe, popularly known as Expensive, with a heavy heart and rude shock.
Describing the news of the death as devastating, Governor Akeredolu says the reality is too difficult to accept considering that no news of illness was heard about the late lawmaker before his sudden death.
The Governor while recalling his interactions with Adedayo as one of the members of the Green Chamber from the Sunshine State, notes his candour and urbane character.
“Like every mortal, Expensive is gone in fulfillment of the mankind’s inescapable debt. It is painful that such a bright star is gone too soon. For our dear State, this is a big blow dealt by the ugly sting of death. It is a devastating tragedy.
Governor Akeredolu says the late Adedayo was committed to the service of his people, having served as an elected Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area in 2004 and subsequently achieving his desire to represent his people at the National Assembly.
“He was renowned for his generosity, touching lives and making people smile with his act of giving. Adedayo has a track record of service to his people. He was a grassroot politician. His death is a great loss to Akure kingdom and the State in general.
The Governor commiserates with the National Assembly, the people of Akure, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Even with a heavy heart, the Governor particularly condoles the immediate family of the deceased while urging them to take solace in the legacy of his good deeds, especially his philanthropic gestures while he was here.
“May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest and keep him in his bosom,” he prays.

The spokesman of Ex-militants in Ondo State under the leadership of Gen. Job Omotuwa who also doubles as Head of Monitoring team of Great Patriots’ for Better Initiative, Comrade Niyi Majofodun said the groups have concluded plan to stage a heavy protest at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt to know who is responsible for the frustration of President Buhari’s efforts in ensuring that electricity is restored to the oil-producing areas of Ondo State and Ondo South at large.
They threatened to strike if the project is abandoned by the NDDC, stressing that the Commission is funding projects in the other Niger Delta States neglecting Ondo State.
Majofodun noted that the peaceful protest would be staged to express the pains people are passing through for the past 12 years of blackout in Ondo South. And also to be sure if the NDDC Interim Administrator, Mr Effiong Akwa has paid the contractor as promised or not.
The power station is to supply electricity to five local governments – Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Okitipupa, Irele and Odigbo in the southern part of Ondo State.
The project was inspected on Thursday, 29th April 2021 at about 3:30 pm by the Interim Administrator of the NDDC, Mr Effiong Akwa in accompany with the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, State Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Chairman House Committee on NDDC, Hon. He further stated that it was one of the key projects NDDC is proud of among the 9 Niger Delta States.
The NDDC boss assured that more funds would be made available to the contractor within two months starting from the day of inspection, to guarantee early completion of the project. He also commended the effort of the indigenous contractor, Mr Benson Obayelu, for his commitment and determination to complete the project in no distant time and deliver the same for use.
The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who also spoke in the same direction commended the NDDC, expressed delight that over 2,000 oil-producing communities spread across five local government areas of the southern part of Ondo State will benefit from the laudable project, noting that the area has been in blackout for over 12 years. Akeredolu also commended Mr Effiong Akwa for creating time out of his tight schedule and personally present to inspect the project, noting that the visit offered him the opportunity to see how far the contractor has gone on the project
“For us, this is the most important project NDDC is executing in Ondo State. If you deliver this project, you will have delivered the whole of Ondo South from the pains of lack of public power supply. All of us will be happy with you and the economy of the area, which had been crippled for many years, will begin to boom.”
