  • Impeachment Saga: Stop Political Shenanigans, Focus on Legislating On Meaningful Laws, Atunluse initiatives Charge ODHA

    by

A socio-political group, ‘Atunluse Initiatives’, in the South-West region of Nigeria, has urged Ondo State House of Assembly to legislate on laws that will engender socioeconomic benefits for citizens, rather than dissipating energy on political shenanigans that will do the masses no good.

The Chairman of the group, Otunba Akin Akinbobola stated this while addressing newsmen on what he called the ”vexatious state of affairs of Ondo”.

Akinbobola said it was very unfortunate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State did not appreciate the power to serve, entrusted in their hands by the people of the state.

He said that the people of the state would not hesitate to move against the legislators if they did not refrain from politics of bitterness that had put the state in a bad light in recent times.

Akinbobola said the lawmakers should see the level of protest in the town, as people were angry, hungry, and impoverished by the level of poverty in the land, only for them to be pursuing politics of bitterness with an impeachment move against the deputy governor.

“Gradually it’s building up, it will degenerate so we want Akeredolu to come back as a father to stop all these. They are using Akeredolu’s ill health to destabilise Ondo State.

“There is hunger in the land, there is anger in the land. Akeredolu should come back to Ondo State and ensure that governance starts. Everyone is culpable, except the judiciary. They should stop this power play already. We needed to speak up.

“Rather than work for the people they have embarked on internal power play due to the vaulting political ambition of very few elites at the expense of the entire state.

“Our state legislators instead of legislating laws that will engender socio-economical benefits to the citizenry are busy settling unnecessary political scores that can cause irreparable damage to the three arms of government and the existing peace of the state,” he said.

Akinbobola said the initiative was happy with the return of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu from his medical leave, urging him to as a matter of urgency relocate to Akure to oversee the state of affairs.

“Akeredolu’s long absence from the state has given room for a lot of political unrest, shenanigans that are anti the people, especially at these crucial difficult times.

“Failure for this Akeredolu government to put its house in order will lead to reactions by the people of Ondo state against the two arms of government because the people are getting choked with their dirty politics and there is anger in the air,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Group, Mr Shalom Olaseni, said the decision of the deputy governor to approach the court underscores the importance of due process and the rule of law in democratic systems.

“Impeachment processes should always adhere to established legal procedures, ensuring transparency and fairness.

” Aiyedatiwa’s legal action suggests a desire to challenge any potential procedural irregularities or constitutional violations that may arise during the impeachment proceedings,” he said.

  • NLC, TUC declare indefinite strike

    by

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, of Nigeria have declared an indefinite strike starting from October 3

The two labour centres have told Nigerians to stockpile foodstuffs because the strike would shut down economic activities in the country.

The President of NLC, Joe Ajaero and the TUC, Festus Osifo disclosed this after their separate Emergency National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the communique read by the two Presidents, the indefinite strike was as a result of the alleged insensitivity of government to the plights of Nigerians as a result of the removal of petrol subsidy and continuous demonstration of unwillingness and complete lack of initiative.

  • Ikale Indigenes appeal to Akeredolu to halt proposed impeachment of D/GOV

    by

    By Damilola Atoyebi

The Executive and concerned citizens of Ondo State, in particular the stakeholders of the Union of Ikale Indigenes (UOII), have appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to halt the proposed impeachment of his loyal and dedicated Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa.

This is contained in a statement signed by the President, of the Union of Ikale Indigenes (UOII) Mr. Omowole Isaac Omogoroye.

According to the statement, the union said the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ayedatiwa has been a diligent and loyal partner in the administration, even when the Governor was away.

The statement read: On behalf of myself, the Executive, and concerned citizens of Ondo State, in particular the stakeholders of the Union of Ikale Indigenes (UOII), we humbly write this appeal to you, urging your swift intervention to halt the proposed impeachment of your loyal and dedicated Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa.

Your recent return from a medical holiday, where you experienced Divine favour and the importance of human support and unity, underscores the urgency of this plea.

Mr. Governor, your Deputy Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa has been a diligent and loyal partner in your administration. As we see him while you were away, he has faithfully represented you, projecting and executing the responsibilities and serving the people of Ondo State with utmost dedication. His unwavering commitment to you and support have been instrumental in achieving the numerous milestones and progress witnessed during your tenure to date.

Impeaching such an upright and dutiful Deputy Governor despite all forms of official suffocations, regardless of his numerous misdeeds, if any, like any other human being, would undoubtedly be perceived as an act of ungratefulness and vendetta, tarnishing the image of the administration and undermining the trust and the faith placed in your leadership hitherto. This would create a sense of disillusionment among the populace, thus diminishing public confidence in your government and its ability to govern effectively.

Your Excellency, may I imput that the consequences of such an impeachment may extend far beyond the immediate implications. It has the potential to ignite unrest and lead to the breakdown of law and order within the State. Your Excellency, such turmoil can reverberate throughout the entire Nigerian polity, unsettling the stability and harmony of the nation as a whole. This is a risk we cannot afford to take again happening in Akure land. We humbly
remind you of the episode of Ajasin/ Omoboriowo political/ phenomenon

Dear Arakunrin Sir, we implore you to carefully consider the repercussions of allowing this impeachment to proceed. We kindly beseech you to use your wisdom, leadership, and influence as the face of the Ondo State Government, to bring an end to this provoking and unfortunate situation. Embracing reconciliation, and dialogue, and fostering a spirit of unity will not only preserve the stability of Ondo State but also set a remarkable example for the entire nation.

We express our unwavering support for your administration and our faith in your ability to navigate these challenging times. Your esteemed leadership has always championed unity, progress, and the well-being of the people. We trust that you will act in the best interest of Ondo State and its citizens by preventing this impeachment process from unfolding.

It is better to jaw-jaw Mr. Governor than call for war. War experts hold the view that the end of war can’t be predicted as is the certainty of the beginning of a war.
We call on you as the father of all in Ondo State, to please disabuse your mind of whatever animosity evil perpetrators may have meticulously calibrated against your Deputy in an attempt to curry favour from you for the nourishment of their selfish interest and egos

Sir, we firmly believe that by fostering harmony, maintaining a steadfast commitment to democracy, and preserving peace within Ondo State, we can continue on our path of growth, development, and prosperity. Your Government has shown a significant impression to inculcate a new approach to sustainable Democratic governance in Ondo State and this spirit of project continuity already witnessed should not be jeopardized by leadership rivalry.

Humbly Sir, your Excellency, we wish to thank you for giving your attention to this urgent matter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, your Deputy Governor, and the entire State as we collectively strive for a brighter future.

    Yours faithfully,

    Omowole Isaac Omogoroye
    (Omo Omo)

    President
    Union of Ikale Indigenes (UOII)

  • Groups call for the recall of 12 Ondo Assembly lawmakers

    by

………say collecting palliative money to impeach Aiyedatiwa is ungodly, inhumane

Some Political Groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) that are unhappy with the recent events in Ondo State have joined voices against the current infighting going on within the party, especially, the move by the House of Assembly to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa based on frivolous and unfounded allegations.

The APC Groups under the aegis of Sunshine Integrity and Good Governance Forum(SIGGF) and Young Advocate for Democracy Sustenance (YADS) stated this in a joint press statement.

The House of Assembly members had written the Aiyedatiwa over what it termed “gross misconduct” on the part of the deputy governor.

The groups said the process to recall 12 of the 26 lawmakers from the Ondo State House of Assembly had begun and constituents are urged to see between the lines and come out to sign the recall process.

According to the groups, submission of petitions to the Chairman of INEC, signed by more than 50% of the Registered Voters in the constituency, followed by a verification are required; and then a referendum.

“Attention! All constituents of all Ondo State House of Assembly Members. According to section 110 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic, the Process to Recall House of Assembly members is quite simple and straightforward and right now plans are in place to recall 12 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

“Their Recall Petition is being taken to their local governments as we speak and signatures are been gathered across the 18 local governments of Ondo State, which will, in turn, be forwarded to the INEC Chairman and they will be recalled within 90 days,” the statement said.

The groups said the House of Assembly members did not care about the welfare of their constituents, reduced the governance level in the state and the bad handling of the sharing of palliatives that nearly cost an executive member her life in the sharing process.

They urged constituents interested in the process to reach out to the Save Ondo Project.

    by

    ,

The Molokun of Atijere Kingdom, in Ilaje Local Government, Hrm Oba (Dr) Samuel O. Adeoye (Jp), Edema 1, and members of the community have appealed to Ondo State government, under the leadership of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to come to their aid over the deplorable state of the community roads.

Atijere is a community situated in the heart of Ilaje Local Government, which is known for its natural beauty and vibrant culture.

“We are trying our best, especially the youths, but we can not do it all alone, while we appeal to the authorities for help,” the Monarch said.

In the same vein Mr. Lanre Ikuejurojo, one of the community members, speaking with The Hope, on behalf of the residents and youths, during the reconstruction and repairing of one of the bridges in the area, said the road network in Atijere has deteriorated to a point where it has become more of an obstacle course than a means of transportation.

The time for action is now, as Atijere’s potential can only be fully realized when its roads are no longer a peril but a pathway to progress.,
