  • Group calls on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to re-visit Pipeline surveillance contract

    by

…recommend Akogun Job Omotuwa as a proper person to handle littoral states of Ondo, Ogun, Lagos

    By Damilola Atoyebi

Members of Ondo State Niger Delta Coastal Vanguard (NDCV), a group led by
Omotuwa Job Akogun comprises ex-militants in the State who voluntarily submitted their arms and ammunition in response to the good gesture of the Federal Government of Nigeria has called on His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to re-visit the Pipeline surveillance contract.

This is contained in a statement signed by Public Relation Officer, Ondo State, Niger Delta Coastal Vanguard (NDCV) Chief Lucky Ajiroba and made available to newsmen

According to the statement, the group recommended Mr Omotuwa Job Akogun
as a fit and proper person to handle the littoral states of Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos, because of his antecedent in the security network achievements.

The statement read unedited; “We are the members of Ondo State Niger Delta Coastal Vanguard (NDCV).”

“The group led by Akogun Job Omotuwa comprises ex-militants in the State who voluntarily submitted their arms and ammunition in response to the good gesture of the Federal Government of Nigeria under the amnesty programme in the year 2017 and we have shown our unwavering allegiance to the terms of the amnesty initiative of the Government.

“The overall effects of all these are: it has increased considerably the quantum of oil production, it has substantially increased the revenue accruable to the Federation account and ultimately it allows peaceful coexistence among the people of the oil-producing communities of the country. We are aware of the sterling enterprise of this administration to improve on the security architecture of the Nigeria State and all its apparatus: with a particular reference to the pipeline surveillance and secured waterways.

“The last administration made a giant stride by awarding the pipeline surveillance to a sole company in the Niger Delta Area. It is not out of place to state that the purpose, upon which the contract was awarded was not achieved as the situation of the security of the pipeline was worse than ever before since their collaborative effort was not enough to support the constituted military authorities.

“The failure of this was ascribed to the centralization of the contract. Because of this perennial failure, there has been an avalanche of agitation from every quarter that the pipeline security contract should be decentralized to achieve the desired goal of the Federal Government which is in the best interest of the entire citizen. It is on this note that we suggest that each Ex-militant leader in the Niger Delta Region be identified and the pipeline security contract be split among them.

“We recommend Akogun Job Omotuwa as a fit and proper person to handle the littoral states of Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos, because of his antecedent in the security network achievements. Among his achievements are: in year 2017, he was part of the team that negotiated the release of the kidnapped Epe Secondary School Students, his team was also part of the joint task force that secured the release of the four Chinese nationals that were kidnapped on the 12th of December 2017, he also led his team to arrest some illegal bunkers on the 16th of November, 2021 and handed them over to the Ondo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“All this vital information is in the public domain.”

    Thank you.

Signed: Chief Lucky Ajiroba PRO, Ondo State, Niger Delta Coastal Vanguard (NDCV).
