  • Forum Passes Votes of Confidence on Akeredolu, Warns Oppositions  from Dragging Ondo Deputy  Governor Into Omnibus Betrayal

    by

We have keenly studied the effrontery of which the opposition’s parties in Ondo State becoming town criers more than the bereaved in the recent publication from the presidency over the release of 13 percent oil derivation funds to the Niger Delta States.

It is imperative to state that the more close-knit a crop of friends are, the wider the chances of swopping partners, albeit discreetly.  Ilaje is not known for betraying trust, and not as well known for being caged or domant in the face of any odds, definitely the current Deputy Governor who is an Ilaje man has become rich through struggle for survival in the 19th when others were still playing, expectations of greediness from such a man should be least.

Aiyedatiwa’s recent experience as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, however, took the cake when it comes to how far he can go in managing situation and affairs of his people which a previous deputy Governors were greedily left, over high-handedness couldn’t manage.

In the history of democracy across Nigeria and beyond, the office of a deputy Governor activities are usually subject to a supervisory of a Governor so also a vice President office, hence since the time of Chief Adebayo Adefarati, greedy Deputy Governor in the state didn’t usually end well with the Governor, as noted that Dr. Olusegun Mimiko went ahead to impeach his deputy Governor, and the recent greedy and possessive deputy that couldn’t end well with his master.

It should be clearly noted that Democratic practice is different from parliamentary system which gives both deputy and his boss equal rights, hence deputy Governor is handpicked by the Governor as his right man.

In this believe, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa should be given kudos if ends well with Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu government as deputy Governor for maintaining trust and his non greediness to force himself on Mr Governor.

In the history of Ilaje, we are known for being accommodative and proactive in nature, to the extent that we share our bedrooms with unknown strangers, hence when we trust a fellow, we can go to any lent with such without minding and we will never betray, but when you betray any Ilaje person’s, it takes him time to forgive, that’s why when any Ilaje person’s says “Sorry” it means it comes from his heart to unite with you peacefully.

We have never stood for ceremonies when going out with the current trend in the news on 13 percent Oil Derivation belonging to the oil producing states.
Ours is to make suggestions on demands for social amenities and dividends of democracy for our people in the mandate areas, and we have a sitting authority that’s constitutionally in charge of it in the state which is the Governor to do at his own discretion.
We are aware of Mr Governor’s efforts on the deep seaport in the coastal areas of Ilaje land, also aware of his efforts in the lekki araromi road both in Ilaje, as well as Aboto Atijere road. When things were obviously traced to threat to the peaceful coexistence in our land and in Bayelsa state, we are aware of his efforts, and also aware of security surveillance in the mandate areas and the security structures in the state.

We are aware of how Dr. Olusegun Mimiko led Adminstration in Ondo State greedily chased away Dangote refinery from Ilaje, we are aware of how Ugbo-Nla Ughoye road construction was truncated by same Dr. Olusegun Mimiko Adminstration, and also aware of how  Ondo South electricity project suffering epileptically on the spur of the moment.

As we nestled in the back seat of the state, we are a people destined with natural resources and cannot be intimidated even by hypocrites parties.

If a sitting Governor refused to push developmental projects to his District, who else would push to it for his people?
Ranging from the time of Chief Adebawo Adefarati, he was able to develop his people and Ondo North District, with whose funds? The state owns funds and the people therein.
You were told you have resources from your local government by the state, and not by yourself, occupies of every position in the state has the blessings of the Governor of the state.
When Dr Olusegun Agagun was a Governor of the state, developmental projects shifted back to the South with full social amenities and benefits. And when Dr. Olusegun Mimiko took over, not only shifted developmental projects to the central but also paralyzed developmental projects and amenities in the southern parts.

On this note, our demand is that comes 2024, the Governorship seat comes back to the South to develop our District again, we owe nobody hypocritical sympathy and we are in solidarity with Mr Governor and his deputy, every other intimidation becomes null and void.

We are the people domicile in the riverine area with God’s presence, feeding others has never become a sin to us. We are neither lazy nor betrayal, we manage people and can live long with whoever trust us.

  • Gov Sanwo-olu Commissions 10km Okitipupa-Igbokoda Bypass

    by

Hails Gov Akeredolu For Developing Ondo With Limited Resources

•”This Road Will Solve Horrific Problem Of Traffic Congestions” – Gov Akeredolu

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday commissioned the 10 kilometres Okitipupa-Igbokoda bypass which was constructed by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commissioned the road amidst pomps and pageantry at Erinje Junction in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

The Lagos State Governor commended Governor Akeredolu for the impactful and significant development happening in the Sunshine state.

Governor Sanwo-olu said: “What we are about, as a party, as brothers, is to continue to do what we call peer review and to continue to encourage one another.

“This is not my first time. It is not my second time of coming to Ondo State. And each time I come, it is because of a significant development that is happening in your state.

“You have seen that, indeed, there is meaningful development that is happening in your state. You can see that, even with the little resources available to the State, Arakunrin Akeredolu is using it well for the betterment of the people and the state. I want to thank you for this sir.

“Earlier today, I was in Owo. I can see new roads. We are here again. This is indeed a First Class road that is worthy to be acknowledged.

“Governor Akeredolu, thank you for holding onto our party. Thank you for giving your people the real essence of democracy. It is only with infrastructure you can see growth and development in all our communities.

“It is only with infrastructure we can commune peacefully from one community to another community, that you can move from one jurisdiction to another, effortlessly.

“Only reward for a good work is more work. And that is why we are in governance. We are in governance to change lives positively. We are in governance to make life more meaningful to our people.

“Tell other communities that with Akeredolu, more purposeful and meaningful development is coming. It is just a case of let us just finish one before we move to another. You can see the quality of this road is next to none.

“On this road, I can imagine how many jobs that have been provided. People were selling sand, people were selling cement, people were selling pure water, food, and all sorts of economic activities happened in the construction of this road.

“You can see that is what governance is all about. It is not an abandoned project, it is not a failed project. Governance is about solution, it is about the people,” Governor Sanwo-Olu added.

Present at the commissioning were the deputy governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; members of the State Executive Council led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; state chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; APC chieftains including candidates from the Central and Southern Senatorial Districts; religious leaders; traditional rulers and several other dignitaries.

Earlier, the Host and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, explained that the road was constructed on a virgin land to permanently solve the horrific problem of traffic congestion in Okitipupa.

Governor Akeredolu said the traffic congestions usually resulted in delay for vehicles plying Okitipupa–Igbokoda Road, and always making a journey which should normally last about 30 minutes to become hours.

He particularly appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for finding time out of his busy schedule to honour his invitation to commission the road.

Governor Akeredolu revealed that in infrastructure development and good governance, his administration has raised the bar and set a standard which can hardly be faulted by anyone.

He described his administration as the flagship and reference point for infrastructural development, transformation and good governance in Nigeria.

According to him, as a virgin land, the best contractor was used to construct the road project to standard and specification.

The Governor also appealed to the people to consider all the road projects as both their personal and collective heritage by protecting and preserving them.

He added that his government has achieved a lot in terms of development of infrastructure by emplacing a string of people-oriented projects that have benchmarked Ondo State as a State of repute in Nigeria in terms of quality and speed in project delivery.

“It would be recalled that when we came on board in 2017, we felt, and rightly so, that there is the compelling need to have a flyover bridge at Ore to take care of the apparently unceasing traffic on the road with its attendant carnage occasioned by incessant road accidents.

“We started and completed the Redemption Bridge within two years of the first term of our Administration, thus solving the problem of the carnage and traffic gridlock on the Sagamu–Ore–Benin Road.

“Again, we conceptualised and constructed into a dual carriageway, the ever busy and commercially-active ‘A’-Division–Oba Osupa (Hospital Road)–Oluwatuyi–Ijoka Road which successive administration since the creation of Ondo State were unable to attend to for lack of the political will because virtually all the road setbacks had been fully built by the people.

“These structures had to give way, including those that were formally acquired for demolition to allow for the modern road with attendant huge compensation. I am happy to inform you that the construction of these dual carriageways has attained an appreciable level of completion and it is our hope that it will be completed soonest.

“This dual carriageway projects have also been replicated in other towns such as Owo and Ikare in the Northern Senatorial District, while the one for the Southern Senatorial District, as we speak, is being conceived.

“The construction into a dual carriageway, Phase I of Ikare Akoko township roads has been completed amongst several other completed township roads. This is in addition to over 40 road projects spanning over 350km across the State both inherited from previous administrations and initiated by our own administration,” the Governor added.

The Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr Raimi Aminu, disclosed that the 10 kilometres road network started from Ikoya to Ilutitun to Igbokoda and with spur to Araromi-Lisa community with different features.

There were also goodwill messages from traditional rulers including Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Akinruntan; Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa, Oba Michael Obatuga; and the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Hon. Isaac Kekemeke.

They all commended Governor Akeredolu for his unwavering infrastructural development across the state, saying the development has enhanced socio-economic activities in the affected areas.

  • Asaba 2022: Nasarawa “ll Surpass Edo 2020 Feat – Isaac Yargwa

    by

    By John Kayode

We are very confident of surpassing of previous National Sports Festival medal records, Nasarawa Commissioner of Youth and sports development, Lucky Isaac Yargwa has said.

The commissioner added that Nasarawa had early preparations for the Festival adding that they were among the first states to arrive Asaba.

He stated this while addressing journalists at the media center of Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Yargwa revealed that the 20th edition of the national fiesta held in Edo State was one of their best outings since the Festival began in 1973, about 49 years ago, in Lagos.

According to him ,”Team Nasarawa won a total of 22 medals, which include 5 gold, four silver and 13 bronze medals, and finished 18th out of 36 States and FCT, Abuja, on the medals’ table.

“From the entire 19 Northern States and FCT, Abuja, only three States(namely, Kano, Plateau and Kwara) and FCT Abuja, did better than us at the last edition of the Sports Festival, even though we went with fewer sports events.

“We came to Asaba with the largest number of contingent, comprising 181 athletes, 33 coaches, 8 referees, 27 sports secretaries, 20 accompanying officials, 2 medical personnel and 6 security details.

“We are participating in 27 sporting events.

“In all of these sports, we are very confident of surpassing our previous medal records.

“Our sport-loving Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, accorded us all the necessary support to ensure we excel at the Festival.

“We had early preparations for the Sports Festival and we were among the first States to arrive Asaba. We came in on 29th November, 2022, and participated fully in the opening ceremony.

“So far, Team Nasarawa has won three medals – one Silver from Para-Table Tennis and two coming from Taekwondo events(Poomsae Individual and Poomsae Team Event).

“Some of our athletes are already in the medal stage in some sports, and before the end of today, we should have more medals in our cabin.

“There are many other sporting events we are yet to commence participation in.

“But I want to assure you that before the end of the Festival, Team Nasarawa will be among the top ten highest medal-winning States.

“Our athletes and coaches are more than motivated to deliver results.

“Nobody is owed any dime. The State Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, made every necessary and adequate provision for each member of the contingent.

“As a State, our main focus is on the real stakeholders, that is the athletes and coaches, of course, we are here because of them.

“I also wish to disclose to you that our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has graciously redeemed the sum of 16.5 million pledge he made to athletes who won medals at last year’s Sports Festival in Edo State.

“This is to further boost the morale of the athletes to redouble their efforts at this year’s edition of the Event.

“The Governor is a firm believer of hard work and graciously rewards excellence, no matter where it is coming from.

“As a Government, we prioritize the welfare of our people, and we will continue to improve it to meet acceptable global standard.

“We are deliberate in building sports infrastructure and supporting human resource development for optimum performance and healthy competition wherever we find ourselves.

“Finally, I must commend the organizers of the Sports Festival, including the Delta State Government, the Federal Government and Partners for ensuring that this Event doesn’t only hold, but meets the required standard.

“The facilities are wonderful. The coordination is welcoming, and the hostel accommodation, especially for my contingent members, is excellent.

“Even though you can’t guarantee a perfect Event, but I must say Delta State has fulfilled its promise of hosting a historic Sports Festival, and this is evident to everyone.

“However, I want to call on the organizers to put search lights in and around Event Centres to ensure that the aims and objectives of the Sports Festival are not eroded by selfish stakeholders whose motive is to favour some States at the expense of others, probably due to pecuniary gains.

“They must stick to the rules and regulations guiding the competition and ensure that talents, irrespective of the State they come from, are discovered and be nurtured to represent the country at international sports meet.

“Also, peaceful co-existence, love for one another and acceptance of social, cultural, religious and economic values should and must be preached, because that’s why the Sports Festival was established.”
